pitch M2.5x0.35 or M2.5x0.45 for the MERV
Hello anyone know what pitch does the merv screws have of the M2.5 mm ones? I need to make a bigger hole in the hitec servo horn to fit the steering link to my new 5085MG and not sure which screw hole cutter to get.
For metric M2.5 they come in 0.35 and 0.45 pitch. I guess I'll have to test it out unless anyone can confirm that.
Thx in advance

I'd let the screws do that themselves... the plastic is soft.

I think I just took a smaller drill bit and used that to open the hole some. Then let the screw cut through the rest as cobra is recommending.

the servo horn I got is made from dural, so the screw won't cut it ;o]]
the plastic servo horns (got a set of hitec horns from *********) were too big even after I have shaved as much unneeded material as possible....so I got the metal one that fits really nice but the screw hole is probably M2 and not M2.5 so I need to make it bigger so I can fit the servo linkage via the original ball screw.

. Forgot the brand but mine clamps down with two bolts works great. You should be able to get the plastic one working though

I also used a nut and bolt didn't want to rely on just a bolt

I already did the bigger hole in the dural servo horn and if anyone wants to know the traxxas servo linkage has 0.45 pitch....made a new hole in it and it fits nicely....I used a 3 step manual cutters ($3) and used 2.0mm drill to prepare the hole for the cutting (also got a 2.1mm drill recommended for the preparation but didn't use it in the end)...for cutting into dural lubricate the cutter with soapy water
thx for the tip with the nut, too bad I read it after I got home from the shop...it didn't occur to me that I could use it although I had the nut in my hand when I was trying to find out the pitch on the original screw....now when I see how much of the screw is sticking out through the servo horn I guess it would make sense to put a nut on it so it doesn't hold all on the screw socket...well threadlock will have to do till my next hardware store visit ;o]
the plastic one was much much thicker and wouldn't fit at all behind the servo guard...even with as much as possible shaved it would barely fit...the dural one is much much smaller and thinner so it fits great behind the servo guard and it only cost few bucks

as long as it works -should hold up fine!

nut and bolt

Looks nice but I would run the stock servo saver.

I lost traction at around 50 went right into the curb tire first. Servo saver took the hit toe link got pulled out of the servo saver nothing else bent or broke if it was aluminum would cost me more than 12.00 bucks
