    Trenchers vs stock tires

Does anyone have a picture that shows the size difference between the Trenchers and the stock Stampede 4X4 tires?

The Trenchers are 6mm higher than the stock Talons. There are a zillion pics on this forum and on Google of both tires.

Are they wider? Doesn't seem that they are much larger. I was looking for a side by side picture. I've seem lots of Trencher pictures but never in a comparison picture next to the stock tires

Thanks for the pics, it looks like a pretty aggresive tire. These are the ones for the Stampede 4X4, Pro-Line Pre-Mounted 30 Series Trencher 2.8 w/Desperado Nitro Rear Wheels (Black) (2)
    [PRO1170-12], right?

No those won't work. If you want premounts you need electric stampede FRONTS all around.

Ummm.... the Stampede 4x4 wheels are the same as the Nitro rear ones. 1170-12 is the right one. Dont forget that if you want to tape them, you want to order the wheels and tires separately.

I hope you didnt buy the Trenchers on Desperados on the first pic because in that case you would have the wrong offset.

My bad petertje. I ordered nitro fronts once. That's what happened to me too. The descriptions get confusing at times. I think when I got the wrong ones they were 1170-13?

It's ok. You didnt give wrong info in your correction. The 1170-13 are the electric rear ones and the 1170-11 are the nitro front ones.
Just look at the Proline site for the right numbers. In the description you can always find the right ones for your car.

It's kinda confusing. There are only 3 types:
    - Nitro front (no hexes)
    - Electric rear for the 2WD cars (smaller offset)
    - Electric front for 2WD cars = front and rear for the 4x4 Pede (larger offset).

So the right set of wheels for my Stampede 4X4 are 1170-12, for the front and rear, correct?

Yep. You can check it yourself: http://prolineracing.com/tires/trenc...-black-wheels/

If you want the tires and wheels separately:

If I run with a 2s Lipo would I get much ballooning with these tires? I guess I'm trying to decide if I should get them premounted or not.

Ballooning doesnt depend on the battery, but the speed they turn around with. Trenchers are pretty soft. I dont care much about the ballooning because I dont want sharp turns when I go fast. Many others decide to tape them. If you dont gear too wild, I think you can do without.

Thanks, would the tire softness and amount of ballooning be comparable to the stock Talons?

Personally I think they ballon a lot more but I don't run 3s yet myself so I don't really care. They grip big time compared to talons. Your truck isn't going to drift much anymore lol. But I still like to run the talons sometimes.

Trenchers add a lot of strain on the drivetrain, due to the extra traction. I have broken rear axles twice since using them. That's with 2s. Talons slip so much, it never really strains anything.

So I guess I would be ok with them premounted only running a 2s Lipo?

You can always bake or boil them to remove the tires from rims, and tape them down the road. Just a pain compared to buying them separately to begin with.

If I bought them separately and taped them how long would the tape hold up before I would have to retape them?

Need to adjust the slipper after installing trenchers to make up for the increased traction. May not totally save the drive shafts, but they should last longer.
