40 20 revo gearing on jato....

i bought the 40 pinion 20 clutch bell setup for a revo and put on my jato, had to move the engine a little closer for it to mesh so i moved it. I could not figure out why it was grinding or how to fix it and thought okay I will run it n break it in n maybe it will clear itself up. Dumb idea, now i stripped my pinion. How do I fix it? It had no problem stock, is there something I missed?

The (pinion) as you called it, I’m assuming is a revo spur gear which is a mod 1 pitch, the most common 20T clutch bells are mod .8 and the 2 different pitches do not mesh together and a plastic spur would strip every time.
Are you sure you have a mod 1, 20T clutch bell and not a 20T mod .8 bell?

Otherwise if you have the same pitch bell and spur you just need to make more modifications of the engine position to adjust the mesh properly.
    No slipper/tall gearing/power = broken parts.

Local store carries 1.0 40t revo spur n thats what i stripped, so i put the stock .8 54t jato spur on n it meshes perfectly, so i assume my 20t clutchbell is a .8 not 1.0 n caused the mesh to not line up properly. So the solution is to find a .8 40t spur which im not finding, or a 1.0 20t clutchbell to mesh with the local stores stocked 1.0 40t spur. But i cant find it, any suggestions on the setup or links to what someone else uses wouldbe great

I have that bell snook, just not a 40t spur that fits, I've heard of numberous choices but haven't found a reliable 40. A stock 54t .8 mod works fine. But was interested in other compatible setups using a 20t clutchbell

The stock revo spur gears are all mod I, 36/38/40T
If you have the rrp 8020 it will mesh. The rrp 7920 is a mod .8 pitch and will not.

Have a look at your bell, a mod 1 20T bell the diameter of the gear teeth will be close to the outer edge of the bell like the pic above.
A mod .8 20T gear will be a lot smaller in diameter.
