    The 60mph Barrier Questions

Well, guys, the erbe will be drop in front of my door in a few days, and i want to ask some questions about the gearing, since i've read a lot of topic about gearing right here but couldn't understand any

So, they told us that the 24/54 gearing set up and twin 3s lipo will push the limit of 60mph+, my questions are :
-Is that 24/54 gearing will result in under geared or over geared ??
-I'm planning to put a phaltline on it and twin 3s lipo, what do I need to push the limit of 65mph ?

    1. really good LIPOs (at least 40C)
    2. really hard Tires, best you also tape them against ballooning
    3. you should be able to fit even smaller spur gears, 50T is the smalles made by Traxxas, best you go MOD1 instead of 32DP (MOD.8)
    4. Really strong springs (I go blue front/purple rear and its still to soft, maybe P3 Rockers would help
    5. Blower for the Motor is essential, you can also grab a bigger Motor, I put in Lehner 2240/7, but thats kinda overkill^^
    6. limit downtravel by binding the rockers together
    7. Since you should not go a 60mph+ transition permanently, I would integrate 2 Gear Transmission Kit, Middle Differential is incompatible to that, but at 60+mph that would be counterproductive anyway

I still cannot go faster then 60, cause my Proline Road Rage just disassemble themselves within seconds, maybe you can tell me if your HPI work better...

    8000 mAh 28c 2/2s geared 21/54.. radar 54.1 mph..
no two speed trans is need, unless you are doing some crawling...

the gearing you are talking about is for speed runs, with cool downs between passes....

make sure the 3s batts you buy are a min of 120 amps.....
Would you go flip my truck back over??

My E-Revo is exactly what you plan on it being lol. I have the phaltlines, 24/54 gearing and twin 3s lipos. ********s 45-90c. I'm a speed run kinda guy. I had my fun bashing with it and then died the chassis, got the wheels, gearing, made it very low, motor fan, underglow, and I'm ready to go. I plan on getting that tqi setup for my birthday so I can record some speed runs. Do you know how great it is of if it any good?

Okayy, well, there's a lot of options given here haha

So, i'm going to put phaltline, center diff, twin 3s 45c
How about if i put the gearing with 24/50 or 21/54 ??
And hey, how about louise truggy tire t-turbo ? I use that one and i think it's conpound close to onroad

And for the blower maybe i will put twin yeah racing tornado fan with heatsink, is that enough ?

Well i think i don't need two speed conv bcause it is said in the description, it's for climbing

Thanks guys, i really want to push the car above 60mph hehe

Prokktor has some good info. Also, read this link that I started a few days ago as it holds all of your answers:

    http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...pping-your-car...

I STRONGLY recommend getting the traxxas adjustable wheelie bar. I just picked one up 2 days ago and it's a night and day difference with traction. With the 24/54 setting you will end up flipping your car if you don't have one. I also urge you to find at least a 1/8 mile straight away. You have to ease into the throttle other wise you'll end up spinning the phaltlines. They are also going to balloon with the addition of the wheelie bar so make sure to tape them up.

I was a bit disappointed that I only hit 57mph (only got to about 85% throttle before it almost flipped on me). My punch settings were set way to high (80%), I did not have a wheelie bar, and I did not have a long enough straight away. I ended up throwing the stock gear ratio back in today then figured out the minor throttle glitches I was experiencing was due to a destroyed rear end differential. All of the gears were chewed up completely and one gear only had 4 good teeth remaining on it. I replaced the parts and it feels like a completely different car. I purchased the E REVO used and I don't ever remember it running this fast... especially on the stock 18/68 ratio.

I'm currently looking for a nice open straight away but I expect to hit at least 60-63mph with the current set-up whenever I throw the 24/54 and tape the Phaltlines up judging on how much faster this set-up is since I've replaced the damaged rear diff.

Also, don't get disappointed if you don't hit your goal at first. Everything takes time... good luck.

Thanks a lot to anthonyv for the suggestions, but i'm going to put center diff to reduce that wheelie effect. And also shaft of the summit. And hey, is that 5000mah 45-90c enough to hit the top speed ? Thanks man

if you add p3 rockers and zip tie them down to get even lower, in addition to the high gearing and the phaltlines, i surely doubt you ll need the wheelie bar at all..

spend a lot of time balancing your tires, add tape inside and fishing line over them. tires and good batteries are the most important factor here. and a large area of course. i got up to 70 but my phaltlines didnt help much. i didnt add tape to make them lighter and the fishing lines kept breaking.

its a demon tho at that speed you ll be impressed!

the gearing is probally overgeared for the 3500 motor. but a bigger motor and more volts will cancel out the over gearing
All I need now is to set a new lap record.

Yess true broo. By the way, i just calculate the top speed on the www.scriptasylum.com, i use the gearing of 30/50 with 6s and phaltline tire, the result is 90mph brooo !! But i think its over geared

^ yes 30/50 is def. overgeared just use for 1-2 speed runs then alow to cool. I don't like a center diff unless heavy diff oil is used the kind of defeats the purpose. just do like said above and tie the suspension down.

Have you got a chance to try everything out yet? How well does the center diff work out?

I put a 28t pinion gear with a 54t spur gear on mine and it was too much to handle on 6s lipos. way too fast

No bro i havent, i think i'm going to sell it because it will need a few more bucks to make it balance or good at high speed.
Another reason is i have a truggy from teamc, it's standard but it is 80% better in high speed than the standard erevo
Btw thanks for all of the advice
Btw, about the mmm esc, does the fan stops after the second beeps ??
