    Tekno driveshaft cups redesigned?

Teknos have been out of stock for a while, but Tower recently showed limited stock and sent me $20 off coupon, so I order a set because I like the design better than MIPs. It looks like the cups have been redesigned. Can some measure their rear cups to confirm if the new ones are longer, same or I received the wrong cups?

I sent them an email at 6:30 pm asking them about this. At 11pm I received this:

You have the latest/correct drive cups. They are the same dimensions as before, just lighter. We are working to update the instructions. Let us know if you have any issues. Thanks!

    Now that is good service.

Just a fancy way of saying, it was cheaper to make with less material but you still payed full price...

It would be better if they fix the issue with the axles poping out of the cup

I'm pretty sure it costs MORE to make a lightened part (more machining time) than it does to make a full material part. This looks like a great update from them.

Those look just like the ones I put on my wife pede. Shaft will not fall out with the arms all the way down without the shocks attached. More machining time = more $$$ so they got some material cut out to make them lighter. Have not had any problems with the ones I installed and ran it pretty hard on 3's right after getting it back together.
My self I still like the MIP's more due to more locking area with less chance of failure.

Tekno just sent me another email:

I guess I should have added that the front kits now come with the same drive cups as the rear for increased down travel. The rears also feature an updated hub design with a new lower mounting hole for maximum down travel. We never had issues with shafts popping out, but a lot of customers are running longer shocks and more flexible arms (RPM). We wanted to make sure we didn't exclude anyone from running our product and now everyone should be able to use them without any mods or issues. Thanks.

I am thinking about possibly getting a set of Driveshafts for my Stampede and my Slash. Could you list ALL of the part numbers I would need to get my truck up and running. I hate when I order something, get all excited about it, then find out I still need to order something else to make it work.

I think the Tekno and MIP are both full kits.

I just took it out for it's first run with the Teknos and beat the snot out of it. 30-40mph cartwheels, flips, big jumps, head first into a pile of bricks (on accident, but the pede won that battle), some other dead stops running into things........no beakage and the Teknos stayed in the cups.

It's was over 100 degrees on the ground, pushed the motor (tacon 2950kv on 3S) to 200 and kept running like a champ! The pinion broke loose at the end and chewed up the spur a little and the rear shocks aren't quite rebounding the same, but still a successful day of bashing.

It may cost more for the extra machine time, but it looks like they just cast them with the sides cut out to save on material.

No hate here. I roll with MIP's

They are lighter, thats what matters. MIP owners wouldn't know about that ; )

I thought about Tekno but I bought my truck used and it had MIP on the back already. Maybe on the next one I'll try them out
Going to see how mine hold up to 4s power tomorrow, and see how the golf course holds up to my trenchers with that power

I'm no expert, but it looks like a machined part not a cast one.

    Edit, addition:

It's not hard to find the information. Let's all try to post as accurately as we can.

I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

It probably is machined. I'm no expert with any of that, but I would imagine it helps lighten and allow them to reuse some of the material to save some money on their end.

Either way I still may try them out if/when I get another truck to put them on

I love the MIPīs, pretty sure they will hold great, mines already took the MMM-2200 power on 4s, and passed

now when are they gonna make a longer spline for those of use running the jato mod or protrac kit. looks like there not done excluding everyone just yet. the exact reason why i have mip's. although i am very happy with my mip's

That's cool if they made some for the Protrac kit. Still won't fit the Jato mod which is what I did. Which sucks because I wanted the Tekno 6mm axles over the weight of the MIP's
