    Motor/ESC Problems

Nephew has stock Velineon system. He's running good 2S 25C batteries with stock gearing 13/54 with standard size tires. He does some bashing and mostly at an outdoor track.

Problem: regardless if motor is cold or warm, when he stops the truck it needs to be bumped for it to run again. They steering works fine while it's in the stalled condition. He called Traxxas CS and they said send it in for warranty. This would be unfortunate since this motor esc is a replacement from the first one that smoked the esc. Any input will be helpful.

Also, the motor shaft has a lot of play. I wonder if the motor bearing is bad.

Same thing happened to mine out of the box. Called Traxxas & they said I needed a new ESC. So I send it in & then they decide to tell me that they don't have any in-stock, & don't know when they'll be back in-stock. They'll send me one whenever though. I now have a brand-new Slash Platinum that is missing an ESC, & have no idea when they'll be sending me a replacement for their defective product. GREAT customer service!

I had an issue with my ESC and motor. And while the motor was returned in about 2 weeks the esc took about 3.5. To be honest i felt that was a fair turnaround time and was completely happy with the customer service i received from Traxxas. It's unfortunate the esc's are backordered, but, i'm sure traxxas is as unhappy about that as any consumer would be. From everything I've read and my personal experience, I think Traxxas delivers excellent customer service and i believe they bend over backwards to keep their customers happy.

3.5 weeks may be acceptable to you, but when I spend $400+ on a toy RC truck that is defective out of the box I expect it to be taken care of in a timely manor. "They're out of stock, & we don't know when we're getting more" is not what I wanted to hear. You mean to tell me that Traxxas is stopping production on all of the RC's that use that ESC? I highly doubt it.

I've read all of the great customer service stories too, which is why I wasurpriseded to hear what they had to say about it.

i just blew my 2nd vxl 3s in as many months. the first one took about a month to get back. this one just got sent in. the funny thing is i got a castle sidewinder to get the first truck up and running. got 2 runs out of it, then poof. its been in for service for about a month too. thats my gripe also. theyre delivering retail units while the warranty's wait. luckily for me, i have the resources to buy a new truck when one goes down.

I hate to tell you this bit the sidewinder is not a great esc. You should've went with the Manna Max Pro. It is a much better esc.
