Question What is it about the Slash...

...that makes it so tough? I see all these videos of people horribly abusing a Slash in ways that none of Traxxas's other rcs could handle, so what's the secret?

Well the large body and bumpers protect the slash very well. Traxxas makes a good grade of plastic that can withstand some hits, but still be able to flex. The relatively simple design with few parts reduces the chances of breaking. Traxxas did a great job with the slash!

The chassis is strong and the suspension is so good it reduces breakage due to the flex.

If you do break a part, replace with RPM.

Get the rpm front skid plate. It sandwiches the bell cranks so they won't pop out again. Just got mine on this weekend. Great so far!

I second this. The directions aren't very good but I figured it out after a second try. Lol

Good structural engineering and the ability to 'absorb' shock keeps these Slashes flying and bashing

I don't mind at all replacing a couple dollar part to keep it going as I would have expected to have had the vehicle broken in half by now! I let my grandson run his however he wants and I have only replaced two rear axle carriers and freshened up the trans and bearings because I know better than to let it seize up from lack of maintenance.

Just an awesome value and a blast to play hard with and a good teaching tool of fundamentals of driving and set up.

I have to say that the slash does have to be one of the toughest rc vehicles on the market....." They take a beating and just keep ticking".

I just wish the gear noise was less.

the parts are mainly plastic composite. it the best ballence in strenght and flexibility. and the large surface area absorbs the hits better

You shouldn't really be able to pick out the gear noise in a slash. Listen to a ofna hyper 10sc, that thing has some loud metal gears. It sounds like it is breaking when you drive it.

If your gears are actually making noise, check your mesh and make sure you have some lube in your tranny.

two thumbs up on this the slash is fairly quiet and if it makes too muck noise, check the tranny

My stockers are white but 2 of my Slashes have aluminum bellcranks from STRC.

Lately I've been upgrading to 32p gearing which is louder than stock but also more reliable and setting the pinion gap is less critical.
