E maxx problem
Hi, I have problem with my E maxx ..The motors are getting to hot and I'm not able to do wheelies any more I adjusted the slipper clutch, but that didn't work.. Could someone help me ..
Which model E-Maxx do you have and what upgrades/mods have you done to it? How old is it?
It could be a multitude of things. The motor(s) could be going bad, slipper clutch could be worn, bearing in the drive train could be bad, a differential could be bad.
If you've taken off the motors to do some maintenance or upgrades I'd check the mesh of the pinion and spur gear, do the old paper strip between to gears trick.
Check for worn or broke teeth on the spur and pinion gear.
Take off the pinion gears and run the motors and see if they get hot. If so, it's most likely you have bad motors. If they don't, your issue is further down the line.
Disconnect the front and rear drive shafts from the tranny and run the motors. If they are still getting hot it's something with the motor(s)/tranny/slipper clutch/spur pinion gear. If they run smooth and cool then start checking the diffs and axles.
If your wheels won't turn free, then it's something in your diff or wheel bearings. If you spin one wheel in one direction the opposite side should spin in the other direction (unless your diff is spooled). The tires should only turn in the same direction when the tranny/drive shaft is powering them.
Is your ESC getting hot really hot as well?
I have the E maxx 3905 its pretty old..It still has the stock motors in it was thinking about upgrading the motors, but not sure which ones to get. Haven't done any upgrades on it.
I can't do wheelies anymore with mine for 2 reasons.... 1 - I'm wearing the tires down like crazy, and 2 - it has to do with where I try. It does wheelies the best on a sloped or rough surface, the really slick parts of my street don't work so well. And I wouldn't worry too much about heat, I've almost burnt my hand on the motors and batteries a lot. If they start to smoke, however, you may want to do something.
My motors get so hot it messes up the cover on the batteries
