    Need help. Gearing.

    Hey guys. I need help fast. Ok so. Im running badlands tires on my e revo with 18/54 gearing. Also on 6s Lipos. My esc is fine but my motor is hot. So hot motor and cold esc means I'm under gear. So what do I change the pinon or the spur gear. Also I have a 18 and a 22, tooth pinon and some 54, and 58 spurs. What would be the best combo so my motor doesn't heat up.

    Try the 22/54 and keep an eye on the temps.

    22/58 62.32 mph reduction 2.64
    21/54 63.89 mph reduction 2.57

    I know that more teeth in the spur is faster low end. what is better for low end on the pinion, more teeth or less teeth?

    I run 18/54 with Badlands and my motor runs about 130-150 and esc runs about 125. That is on 2x ******* 5000mah 40-50c 3s.
    I wonder why your motor is running so hot?

    would 18/58 be ok. Or will the motor still get hot.

    18/58 is lower gearing than the 18/54 you are running now.

    Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
    Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
    Everything warm just right..

    Motor ~ 180/190*F (82/88*C) maximum, ideally 140/160*F (60/71*C), temps can be 10*F higher inside the motor
    ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F (65*C)
    Lipo's ~ 140*F (60*C) max, ideally 100/120*F (38/49*C).........


    4s = 40 mph
    5s = 50 mph
    6s = 60 mph

    would 22/54 be better. if I'm under geared what gear should i increase the teeth on.

    I'm running 19/58 on mine and it runs perfect. Temps are never too hot and has great power. Too bad my pinion keeps slipping on the shaft and stripping my spur gears. Tried Red Loctite, still slipped.

    Yes. With the gears you have on hand, try 22/54. I just ran 20/50 on 4s for about a half hour with BIG tires doing speed runs to see how hot I could get them and everything is running around 145(F).

    the gear reduction is best at 3.0. So with that is mind... 22/58 62.32 mph reduction 2.64
