that is my everyday slash. the one im going to use is still in bits. the alloy gearbox has been cleaned and im just seeing if it it fully sealed around the edges. i found out that a sheet of lexan will cost me almost what a whole shell would cost. so i have found some grey plastic sheet instead. im also thinking about netting for the side windows. im still planning the air intakes as some of the body panels might be shaped to help in this area.

are you gonna use a RPM gear cover ?

Oh, have you seen the Pro-Line racing gearbox with ball diff and alloy motor plate ?

i will be using the RPM cover with silicon sealer just to be sure no sand will get in. as for the pro-line box i like the sealed diff part but the type of gears they are using are a weak point on other diffs so will have to see how there's holds up. im using a stock traxxas diff but i have sealed it and im using 10K lube in it.

this project will be on hold for a short while. as my 1/8th brushless beast decided to use my arm as a place to do a wheel spin. so cutting out 2mm plastic with a basic craft knife will have to be put on hold for the moment.

i will be using the golden horizons gearbox. as for bacon i went off it a long while ago as it seemed to be getting to salty. i think it was because i went on a diet. lol and i could just taste the salt more. but you could send me some just to be sure.

well after doing a quick mock up on the PC then cutting out a few panels i have worked out that my panel plan is not going to work. by the time i have used the zip ties it will look to messy. so im going to try and use one or 2 whole pieces of lexan on the inside then ziptie it. then paint it from the inside.

here is a pic i did with a basic PC program.

You could braze a few nuts in the corners
That would also make it look more scale

my plan was to leave a small gap between each panel. but trying to line everything up will be hard as 2 panels will use the same zip tie. which will be a pain trying to get the same gap on each part.

but the brazing idea is good. i have wanted to do my own frame for a while now so i might try and build one from scratch.

I've MIG welded a few different frames, and when you first get the hang of it it's really quite fun and satisfactory

    update

i have found some scrap clear plastic so im cutting out basic shapes so i will know how the proper lexan is going to look. lexan sheets in the UK cost almost as much as a proper ready made shell so i don't want anything going wrong. also i have a 4yr old son who always wants to help so trying to cut out with a hobby knife is not to safe while he is around so i am limited to a few hours at night.

well the lexan got hear at last i have made a start on the main part it is a right pain as the whole frame has to be measured then trying to bend it into the correct shape. i have zip tied while i do the final cutting after it is perfect i will remove the lexan then the backing and then paint it then refit. im having to heat up a screw driver to melt small holes for the zip ties. and as i found out if it is to hot the lexan don't stand a chance.

there was a family BBQ yesterday so i stayed at home to do some work on this car as it is the only peace and quite i could get. body looks good but still lots to be done im thinking of cutting off the parts of the chassis that can be seen or even making some sort of under tray that curves up to meet the cage.

i think i could use the word PROJECT on the body. lol

That orange and black together looks absolutely astonishing
It might not need an undertray, but I'd dye the chassis black .....well, that's just me

Well I used one packet of dye and I put in a revo 1/16 chassis a slash 2wd chassis a slash 4wd chassis also a rustler chassis + top plate and bulkhead. All look excellent. I think I will dye my other revo blue to match the rpm arms.

I was thinking black paint, powder coat or just even remove the white paint and see what the bare metal would look like.

i didn't do the shocks just in case it changed the shaft hole size. as for the gearbox it is alloy. unless rit dye does work on alloy. but i did forget to do the front bulk head. lol

i do know that if alloy is scratched if will go dark because of dirt and it is near impossible to get clean so dye might do something to it. lol
