    Super Mad!!

I am so ticked, I am in high school and I work and don't make much money, but I am getting a $420 tax return.. I had a whole list of things I was going to buy for my T-Maxx. Well, My parents proceed to tell me they are taking most of it and I do not have a choice. This guy is NOT happy!!

This isn't really a TMAXX issue, but something I'm certain you will get more responses on your particular issue in the Alley, so I've moved your thread...

As a parent, I think there's a little more to this than just what you have posted....

My kids usually come first, my wife and I will always do without before our kids....

Hmmmmm... there must be more too it. Ask them why. Maybe they don't understand how epic RCs are and think you're just blowing money on little cars.

How old are you? Do you live in their house for free or do you pay rent? Depending on your answers, determines whether or not you have any say in the matter. JK!! Stinks, but as a parent myself, there is probably a "bigger" reason not to spend it rather than to spend it. Get a second job or mow some lawns for some more $$.

There is a little bit more to it, they just want me to help out with out motocross racing. But, they have been paying for it the whole year. I have had my list and have been telling them what I am going to but with the money I get. It made me mad!!! It was for my T-maxx!!

More than likely your parents are setting money aside for your future.
In the long run this will benefit you and you'll appreciate what they did for you..

And we'll all live happily ever after.

Oh, so now the truth is starting to come out - You want to play, but you don't want to pay.

You expect a free ride for motocross because they have been paying in the past? GROW UP! Live a few minutes in their shoes before you get all bent out of shape over a toy car. You want the RC parts, then quit motorcycles. Better yet, quit acting as the spoiled son and actually THANK THEM for everything they have done for you so far; food, clothes, a roof over your head, etc, etc, etc.

Do you think just MAYBE the money may be covering something for your future or perhaps a specific hardship your parents have come in to?

    Really 2 simple things to understand;
    1. Their house, their rules.
    2. Don't like it, move out.

Oh, and btw, I'm a 42 y/o father and I've been paying for my own racing since I was 16 and had my own job, so not only have I seen all 3 sides of the argument, I've lived on all 3 sides.

Sounds to me like the gravy train made a short stop at payback station. I get the impression there is no "hardship" being experienced if your family can afford to race motocross. What I will say is this, if your parents had been planning on having you give them some or all of your tax return, it would have been better for them to tell you long in advance so you could plan ahead. That would have resolved any apparent issues that have risen from this situation.

BUT... if your getting free motocross it may be wise for you to do the math and look at the bigger picture. Would you rather have them keep your tax return, or not pay for you to race? This may be a decision your faced with if you make a bigger deal out of this than you should.

Sorry to hear about that kiddo. Maybe you should cash the check and hand all of it to them. You'd be surprised how a little generosity like that will go a long way. Maybe they will see the value of you respecting them for helping you with Motocross. Its by far not the end of the world. Mow a few lawns you'll get that money back quickly. I worked since as far as i can remember. I'm not sure of your families financial situation but any hobby or sport is costly and sacrifices have to be made for the good.

All I can say is keep you CHIN up.

Sure it would have been nice not to have life throw you that curve ball, but you just learned a lesson. Sometimes life can really kick you when you are down, but dont let it keep you down. Just keep making money and be thankful that you actually have a job right now. Some of us dont. And thank your parents for helping you with motocross. Just think of how much they have given.

There comes a point where you need to love and respect your parents no matter what. Even if your parents are horrible. If you have a T-Maxx and are motocross racing, I'm sure they have invested much time in raising you up to be a good enough guy for someone to give you a job. I'm only 15 and I just have to remember that my parents are MOST likely doing what they believe to be the best thing for me, whether I agree or not.

Sounds like someone would like the world handed to them on a silver platter....no questions asked.

Honestly, just save your paychecks from this point on, it'll be a good lesson for you to actually save the money little by little.

You think it's bad now just wait until you enter the real world and the state and federal government take money you earned so they can give it to someone else who hasn't earned it. You can ask all the questions you want but you won't like the answers.

Ahhh Racing! Gotta love it! I don't race motocross but i do race dirt oval cars.. Times are tough. For sure. Racing is EXPENSIVE for sure. Being only 14 I try to contribute financially as much as I can to my racing. Being with my parents are divorced money starts getting really tight. Anyway your parents have payed for the whole thing? Wo! My dad said if i want to race i need to help out a little with the cost and i agreed. I personally would give up everything to race, including rc. And i love rc! Just take it in stride dude! I realized a long time ago, the importance of where your money goes. It happens get over it and go race!
