holy, that sucks.. wonder how that happened

What's a coffee if it aint Irish
i got my tranny off now and before i opened it i grabbed one side and tried to spin the other it dont spin like its supposed to i think....
what the F i got the tranny open gears have almost no sign of wear at all. put the idler gear does hardly touch the output gear. it could be just cause its open and kinda loose but it looks 100%
does the tranny need to have oil in it?
No oil needed. Sounds like you don't have an issue.
dont sound like it. i just checked the diffs. they are fine. but i do have an issue. when i give it throttle it just spins like a stripped spur. it wont move at all when on the ground. take it off the ground and hold it, then every thing spins
Did you check your drive shafts and wheel hexes already?
Nobody is born with experience.
yea, checked everything i can think of but i want to say its in the tranny (the problem) cause thats where the sound was comin from
So there was no wear at all on the transmission gears? Is the little pin that goes behind the spur gear still there?
yea, i didnt know there was one there and luckly i was doin this on my coffee table i usually sit on the couch but it fell out. thats when i learned there was a pin there. i know it sounds crazy but i've checked every thing and it all seems fine but i am sure the problem is in the tranny cause thats where the grinding noise was coming from
Did you put the gears back into the tranny correctly? Do you have the pin screws that hold each center driveshaft to the transmission?
im just now putting it all back together. but yes i am putting them back correctly. i took a picture to be sure i put them in the right place. and i have all the pins
You seem to have checked all the potential problems. Could you video the problem or sound?
i dont know how. i could get a video to my computer just dont know how to get it here i've tried posting pics and they dont show up
You've got to first upload them to an image hosting website such as Photobucket.
ok i think i got it.. i took the old spur gear off yesterday. and i didnt know what the slipper clutch looked like by its self, but apparently it has little notches in it to fit into the spur. well the part that had the notches was in my old spur, and so the new spur was just sitting on a flat round slipper with no notches to grip it. so i assumed thats just what it looked like. apparently mine came apart in halp like sandwitch half.. crazy.. ha. i guess if i'd have known what a slipper clutch looked like i'd have known this
At least you got it. Problems aren't usually this hard to track down.
yea if i'd known the slipper clutch had pad, it'd been real easy to see
Any one know if there is a temp fix?
And is there an upgraded one I can get
lol all that and it was just the slipper clutch?
not sure about an upgrade maybe try tightening it to ge max for a quick fix, I've never had one go out, guess that was your burnt smell lol
just grab a few I think they're fairly cheap, figure out a good tightness
What's a coffee if it aint Irish
what would be a good setting for it. for masive wheelies and one for top end
Wow, simple solution for a problem that seemed so complex. Glad you found it.
Slipper setting is something you have to fiddle with to find your personal best setting. Be careful with a too tight setting. That ruins diff rings more easy.

yea, i cant beilieve after all that tearing down, thats all it was. im ordering a new one but for now im tryin to think of some kind of a temporary fix. maybe like a gasket for an exaust that will withstand hear, and cut it to fit. anyone else got ideas on a temp fix
Can't you just piece the slipper pad back together?
Its melted or some how stuck into the back of the old spur. i tried to pry it off but it just started to break so i stopped trying to pry it. it is in there really good. there is no prying it out
Hmm. I'm not sure what it's made of that you could replicate.
i seems like a car brake pad.
erase some of your messages they are full!
got it done
i found a great way to get my merv to drift instead of roll..
although i am sure im not the first one..
any way what i did was take some zip ties and ties the rocker arms closer together so it lowered the ride hight, lower than i could get with adjustable push rods.. awsome!!
I tried that for a speed run. Mine would still wheelie too much
so what size rims do i need for proline road rage tires? i've been told stock rims are to small. they are 2.0 if i am correct. so what size rims do i need?
The stock wheels suk at higher speeds
so !!!
go for better and bigger rims and better tires
got to agree with this one with Peter
Xtreme has no limiits
He has brand new road rage tires he needs 1.5" rim to run those
Question: i got a 45t in for my merv today and i run a 2200mah 40c lipo what would be a good pinion to run with that spur for some good speed, but still keep it cool?
i have the front windsheild cut out for some air to get to the motor. but what pinion should i use?
i have the 2 stock pinions it came with, a 25t & a 26t. witch one should i use
