Has anyone else heard about the new 80" Traxxas Boat that is going to be set up to run 100mph?
Sounds cool if it is true!

If they do i wouldnt suprised if it uses twin castle xl motors with rebranded hydra 240 esc's. I dont think any single motor setup out there could push an 80 inch boat anywhere near 100mph.
Lets hope:
NO MORE PLASTIC!! Please make the boat out of fiberglass!
Dedicated marine electronics (we all know how the first gen spartans were)
Metal props from the factory would be nice
More realilistic styling
Not an unreasonable price.
Do you know how much an 80in. boat made out of figerglass would weigh? What kind of electric power would it take to push a boat that heavy. The only way I could see to make an electric boat that big and run on electric power, other than plastic, would be to make it out of carbon fiber. This would indeed be a very expensive toy.
I have multiple large scale fiberglass boats. Bare hull they all weigh about 10-15 lbs.
A single mamba XL can produce up to 9 horsepower with the right batteries. Put two of those, 18 horsepower in a hull thats less then 23ish lbs fully loaded, I'm sure it's possible. I had a twin electric 72 inch apache, used twin 1/5 leopard motors and ran on 24s, I got speeds higher then 80mph.
It's definately possible, however I don't know what electric power system they could use besides twins. My guess is since traxxas is partners with castle, the boat will use a system from them. An 80 inch boat running twin Mamba XL's and Hydra hv esc's could get in the 80 mph range for sure, probobly not over 100mph though. Maybe if it was a cat or hydro, but I don't think a deep v could. Maybe Castle is coming out with a new large scale power system???
This would be a very expensive boat. Probobly in the $1,500-$2,500 range. Most of the Ready to run big gassers out their range from $3,000 up to $6,000-$7,000

This is what I heard the rumor mill churn out: Take it for what it is worth.
1. 80" long
2. Castle Powered (assuming twins or a BIG single)
3. New Radio Technology (TQI Radio)
4. Will cost over 1K, just like the XO1
Sounds Exciting if true! I hope it is!
Umm where did you get this info from?

I Did some digging
This was from a guy who predicted the drag car-
I believe he said it was a single hull (not a catamaran or hydroplane) with higher peformance than any other previous Traxxas boat.

Rumors are just that....rumors. I love F. E. Boating so I hope what I am hearing is true!!! From what I am hearing on the electronics end of the new boat....if true...MANY will be surprised and impressed!!!
What kind of electric power would it take to push a boat that heavy.![]()
Well tge guy that predidted the funny car had given a time of mid 2012. The boat had no timeframe except this year (RCX???).
He also predicts helicopters by the end of 2012 (IHobby??)

Hmmmh helicopters. That would be interesting. I will definately purchase this boat. I don't know how they will make it in the same price range as the xo-1 though. An 80 inch boat will need much more power then even a single mamba XL to get to 100mph.
You know what the electronics are?
Also may I ask, where are you getting this info from?
I hope this is true because this would be very exciting to see!
Thrash It, Bash it, Break it, No Regrets!!!
The Rumor Mill...... I have connections who are High End Electrical Engineers that are working on a top secret project for this new boat. They are Spartan owners (as am I) and have not told me anything, but I have overheard them talking about this project they are working on. If whay they are talking about is true.....this will be a Very Exciting boat to hit the market!!! I have asked the about engine(s) and they will not answer my questions, but tell me it will be really cool!
Agreed 100%
I really hope they aren't only Spartan owners, the bigger boats are a whole different ball game. Knowledge of the spartan really wouldn't apply very much to a bigger boat. It would be a shame if none of them know how the Big boats run.
I'm sure it will be half decent though.
Did you hear about a eta for it?
