    Oh nuggets axel carrier damage.

Just had the tiny revo as my daughter calls it out for a run.

Thought I cooked a diff as it was crunching and grinding pretty good. Isolated the noise to the center of the truck and thought the tranny was damaged. Took off cover off gears and noticed a pine needle stuc in the gears. Dental pick took care of that...

Packaged it up ready for another run and noticed increased left rear wobble.

After removing the tire I noticed the 2 pieces of plastic holding the pillow ball retainer on the bottom was broken.

The rear end is disassembled and ready for repair.

Should I get another traxxas part, rpm, or aluminum?

I like the idea of aluminum as there are still other plastic parts that will bend and give.

What is the experience of the masses???

To save you having to search, the general consensus is that Golden Horizon and GPM Racing aluminum axle carriers are the only ones available now that work well. So look for those. I speak on behalf of 90% of the users here.

the rpm's work fine when new but after a few miles the large bearing develops slop and some people have the pillow ball pop out

i currently run gpm...... gh are acceptable form what i have read as well

i used to have rpm, they were a huge waste of money, the bearings holes severly wallowed out, and the pillow balls popped out every run

What brand of rocker arm is that between the pushrods and shock? Since I am likely tearing the truck apart I might as well bulletproof as much as I can....

Checked gpm site and they come from hong kong and are sold out.

50 runs, and the RPM (widely available and much much cheaper) carriers have worked great for me, only two major crashes have popped them out. I'd rather they pop then force something else to break. No damage, just a few screws to unscrew and rescrew and it's fixed when it does happen. I drive hard and they've fine.

Ordered a set of oem carriers to get me through the weekend. GH on back order for a few weeks. Due to living in Canada some of the deals posted are a waste as shipping is as much or more than the part.

The push rods and steering knuckles as well as metal balls and diff shims should be in the package. I will do some on the weekend but reserve the diff shimming until the GH carriers arrive and do a more complete tear down and fix up.

I am considering using a dry lube on the ring/pinion gear. What do you guys use?

I am testing Sullivan's dry ice on the ring&pinion. Goes on wet dries and leaves behind Teflon coating. So far so good
