I use stock weight as mentioned in the manual (which has a great explanation in there). The thicker the lube the more it "locks" the diff.

Ok cool, I'll check the manual. I've heard a heavier oil for the center diff?
How often do folks change the diff oil?
The center diff is like a Limited Slip Differential(LSD). So for RC cars the heavier oil weight the more it wants to stay like the stock differential solid or locked. The less oil weight the more the power gets distributed to the front or back which ever has lest amount of traction.

I run traxxas 50k wt front and traxxas 30k wt in the rear. Found it suits my driving style.
I don't use a center diff in any of my revos, I have tried a center once with 500k and found it would balloon the fronts, I never got around to tracking down thicker oil to try.

Imo the traxxas center diff doesn't have enough spider gears in it to work well.....If it had 6 gears we'd be running much thinner oil, and 500k would almost be like a locker.

I installed the center diff and I have tried just about every kind of oil wgt I can find. I am not sold on the CD, I ballon tires soooooo bad that I have shredded a tire before. I picked up a FOC and hope to try that soon to have an accurate comparison.
It more or less boils down to your preference.

silly putty??? I would really apprecaite the result of that test. If you go that extreme, is there any benefit to the CD over stock or FOC?

Depending on how rough and tight the track is, I'll run 30k/250k/10k(rough or small track) up to 50k/500k/30k(smooth high traction and large). I run the center diff and rear brake, and love them, the truck handles much better with it. As lubecakes says these are little 4 gear diffs without a lot of internal resistance running big heavy and high traction tires, so you need extremely thick oil to get enough resistance built up, on a truggy running 6 gear diffs, you might run 10k/30k/5k or something like that and get the same resistance that these diffs do with far thicker oil. If your suspension is soft, or your ride height is high, then you unload weight from the front under acceleration enough that the diff will just spin the wheels, there are a lot of other changes that need to be done to make the diff work well, lower stiffer sspensions don't allow as much weight to shift and you can use thinner oil.
