Wheel hub dilemma aka getting rid of wheel wobble

I am looking at solutions to the wheel wobble issue.

Right now there are approx 20 wrappings of Teflon tape on the threaded part of the axel and there is still some wobble.

I am considering removing the teflon and trying some heat shrink tubing next.

    Has anyone tried these:

    Or these:

    http://www.hpp-germany.com/factory-s...and-center-nut

Option 2 looks awesome but will hit me with $120 Canadian after shipping and conversion, let alone potential duty...

I might try the integy and mill some slots for the splines on the revo tires.

I really don't want to drill the stock hubs and make an insert yet, I am just too paranoid I will not drill the hub straight and end up with a worse wobble.

Hpp well worth the cash problem solved....

Vs this didn't last long brass wears on aluminum hexes

Wasnt a lot of work just drill the hex to fit the brass tube and tread the brass...but its a temp fix doesn't last long.

I did the stub mod, I hated the result. When (if) I broke a drive shaft I had the beat the hub off the shaft.
Switched to the HPI hubs all happy now...

I purchased the integy wheel hubs. big waste of $20 IMO
The thread in the nuts does not go all the way through which makes it very easy to cross thread, which happened first time I put them on. I haven't been able to find replacement nuts because the thread is unusually small.

I bought the savage hexes, put them on only to find that there is still heaps of wobble, but then realised the the axial carriers are so warn the bearing is moving around! so I haven't used these either.. yet.

I read in other thread yesterday, that someone has had the same brilliant idea as i did the other week. That is to cut off the stock wheel hub next to the hex part and use a nut similar to the savage ones.

Wow almost a year, that's a lot better then my -broke before I could use them, I have heard there are 2 lots of hubs made by integy. Does the thread go all the way from the front to the back of your nuts, like a normal nut?

That's not a bad ideal. What about once you tighten the nut does the axle still move freely?

Sure does. I still use a shim between hex and outer knuckle bearing. It does tighten the shimming slightly. You just need to recheck your shimming after tightening the nut.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'll be getting on to integy to find out why mine are made so poorly.

I'm wondering what I used to cut the hexes ? Would a hack saw work?

A hacksaw would work fine. They're aluminum, so they'll cut fairly easily. I would recommend smoothing/flattening them out on a sander to remove any burrs and make the nut easier to thread onto the hub.

Haha we're you drunk when you did it

I used a lathe and machined it down.
But you could use a hacksaw or a grinder. Whatever works as long as you are careful.

^ I don't think you will be able to keep it straight enough. Vise & a gringer or a dremel...maybe
