New revo, what upgrades should I make right away?

Just bought a new e-revo vxl and have heard that there are some parts that should be immediately upgraded and battery adjustments that should be made right away. If anyone else has an e-revo vxl and has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

welcome to the site, tons of info... dpends what you are going to do with the vehicle

first off, i say tbone full skid plate and bumpers, gpm or gh alloy knuckles, rpm a arms, adjustable (stainless steel or titanium NOT ALUMINUM) tie rods and pushrods

bearings in the rocker arms and steering bellcrank Y post

ALSO SHIM YOUR DIFFERENTIALS..... might not be needed off the bat, but it is good insurance if there is even the smallest amount of play.... destroying the differentials is a major killer of fun

    ******* 390 or bluebird 390 servo

Should I purchase lipo batteries? What are the pros and cons of lipos? Any precautions I should take?

LiPo pros: more power and longer run time
LiPo cons: paying for them, I guess

In my experience in order of importance

    Tbone front bumper
Upgraded knuckles with rpm or gpm
    Rpm front arms
    Lipo's
    Rpm rear knuckles
    Rpm rear arms

I only have the tbone and front parts..bash mine real hard on 2s and 3s and have only broken one rear knuckle(rear rpm parts coming)

Lipos are the same price or cheaper than the stock batteries. Stock are $20 and so are the SPC 2500mah 2s lipos. The 1500mah 3s SPCs are only 17.97 i believe. Or if you wanna go really cheap you can get 22mah ***** 2s lipos for arounf $8 each which is less than half the price as NiMH.

If I were to do it all over again...

I would still shim it out of the box:
    Setting up your bulkhead
    http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-your-bulkhead

I would still get LiPo and the necessary LiPo equipment...
Balance charger/discharger with storage feature, cell checker, power supply

But then I would have drove it until I smashed something up and then upgrade from there.

I did a lot to it fresh out of the box...
    Steel hollow balls
    Shimmed
    RPM arms
    HR alloy knuckles
Drove it like 3 times waiting for my
    LiPo
    ******* 390 servo
Drove it like 2 times waiting for my
    Center differential
Drove it like 100 times then installed
    My giant bore shocks
    ******* ********* 60
    4370Kv motor
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

only 22mah? im sure that those would be like 5 cents jk man
i just got a 2s lipo and it is my favorite mod so far. it makes the car come alive it seems. the stock battery is fine for beginners(i still am one) but the lipo wakes the car up with way more power

I agree with above, it also hold true with full sized cars. Instead of buying a big turbo or something spending the money on a trackday is a better investment. You also transfer that knowledge to anything you drive.

First thing I did after reading a little here was hollow balls and bearings in the rockers. Order a ******* 390 now. They take a little while to ship from HK but it will save you from buying replacement stockers and breaking them.
