Hello to all,
first of all I have to say that my son (9) and me (45+) are all new beginners with RC-stuff.
After reading forums and watching videos over weeks we decided that the latest TRAXXAS SUMMIT VXL 1:16 is probably the best compromise for us as beginners and delivers a good mixture of on- and offroad capabilities and a good RTR package overall. We bought it for ~ 300 Euro - which we thought is also an indicator for reasonable quality level. After the first driving session with standard stock batteries we where just enthusiastic: Performance and battery life even only driven in training mode were far above expectations.
On the second day, during second stock-battery pack session - and thanks god no severe crashes so far - there was suddenly a wiered noise from the car when steering left. As a beginner and knowing there was no criticical situation so far, we thought first, that we have to adjust something...
But after a closer look I found the problem coming from the servo:
A little pinion (white plastic) in the middle of the gear in the servo had lost a single tooth (!) .
You can imaging, that our disappointment was great.
Now to my question: Is this something you have to expect after less than two hour of normal usage with a car at this price level???
Or had we just got a "Monday" version, and this is not the normal start of a new hobby?
THX for your feedback in any way
PS: Since we are from Germany I have asked TRAXXAS US for replacement gears - we will see how they react...
