    Castle sidewinder v2

I was wondering if i can run this system in the stampede without over heating it or anything. I might use the 3500 velineon motor with the sidewinder v2 or buy the combo that comes with the 4600kv motor

If you are going to use 3S, you will bump into ESC heat issues very fast. The MMP is more expensive, but if you can afford that one, I think you have more value for money. The MMP/3800 is an awesome combo. The 4600 is faster with the same volts and same gearing, but will run less cool than the 3800.

The 4600 is a bad choice. The SCT/3800 combo is a much better option on 2s. You can mount the motor fan that comes with it on the ESC instead and that helps keep things cool.

Dont forget you can edit your last post for a while if you want to add something to it.

The MMP/3800 can ask quite some power, which NiMH batteries most of the time are not able to deliver. The SCT is just a name for for the combo. I use it for speed runs in my Bandit, so dont worry about that.

Asheck did a lot of testing with this system in a pede 4x4 when it first came out. There are a ton of threads about it from a while ago. He found that on 2s, geared correctly the ESC would get hot faster than the motor but that the fan helped. A pede 4x4 can actually cause a system to draw a lot of amps. It's surprising.

Sct or sv2 3800 will run good on 2s if geared properly.

you can get the sct 3800 combo for around $100.00, the 4600kv is not appropiate for 4x4 vehicles it will run hot not matter waht batteries you are using.

I got a great deal on my sv2 3800 combo last year and would love to have the mmp but budget was too tight for it at the time. The sv2 is in my p2de right now but it did well in my 4x4. It can get warm in the 4x4 especially bashing. Just like the guys above said it is a heavy little truck so more of a load for the system. I was running 8 cell nimhs had the time. 7cells just had a very short useful runtime even at 4600 mah. If you want to run the sv2 on nimhs just make sure they have a good mah rating. They're going to make your truck glitch and cog a bit at low throttle. Not a big deal but kind of annoying. Like rc fan and pavementsurfer said I don't think the 4600 would be a good idea unless maybe all you want is straight line speed runs on pavement. You'll be ok with nimhs on the sv2 if that's the route you go but you'll want to go lipo someday; castle systems like it a lot more good luck whichever you choose.

The reason why i want the SV2 is that it says its 40% more powerful but it doesn't have a combo for the 3800 motor.

Again, sv2 and sct are identical, so if you want the combo, get the sct.

It's a pity that Castle is not clear about that on their site.

If you want to use the full potential of the 3800Kv motor without much heat issues and some cogging, an MMP and Lipos are the way to go in my opinion.

Back when the SCT and SV2 were introduced there was alot of speculation about what the difference was. Numerous members called castle directly and were told by castle techs that the SCT and SV2 are EXACTLY the same ESC... there is NO difference other than the stickers.

The same goes for the MMP and MMP SCT ESC's... they are IDENTICAL also just different stickers.

Hardware wise they are exactly the same, they show a different splash screen in the Castle software. But that is the only difference beside the stickers.
