Bump steer (suspension steer) problem!

Emaxx 3906....when the front suspension compresses, the wheels both turn to the outside. The left to the left, and the right to the right. I've tried rearranging the turnbuckles on top, bottom, and every which way where they connect to the bellcranks and the knuckles and I still acn't fix it. All that did was make it even worse.
Is this normal? I want to make it so the a arms are flat, to improve handling, but I can't because when they get to that point the wheels are pointing out in opposite direction. It's not huge, but its enough to be an annoyance and prevent the truck from rolling good. And it will probably cause a ton of bump steer, too. Can you guys please help me out here? All of the parts including the turnbuckles are stock.

Just throwing an idea out there. What if you leveled your A-arms then tried to adjust the depth the pivot balls on the axle carrier are set? I know that the axle carriers/pivot balls are more for setting camber but maybe the angle they are at when the A-arm is level, they are pulling at your turnbuckles and forcing your wheels to toe out.

Just a thought.

They toe out quite a bit that little bit of adjustment won't fix it. Thanks much for the effort though.
In fact I have them all the way in so it wouldn't make any difference.
Is it normal for the wheels to toe out when the suspension compresses?
Where do I find an assembly diagram for the steering assembly or the whole truck?

That's normal.
Here's how I adjust mine.
Best to put your batteries in the truck. Use the shock spacers to get the arms sitting where you want them after you've compressed and released the trucks suspension. Arms level (flat) is how I run mine.
With it still compressed adjust your camber with the pillow balls, I like about 1 degree camber all around.
With it still compressed adjust your toe, I like 0 degrees in the front and about 3 degrees toe-in for the rear.
That should get it running straight and handling will be excellent.

I figured it out! I got it so the wheels stay straight no matter how high or low the suspension is!

Well... how did you do it??

I made it like this.(remeber I have a 3906 maxx)
Turnbuckle goes on top where they connect to the bellcrank, and put the other end on the bottom where they connect to the knuckle!
Then I just adjusted the turnbuckles' toe in an out.
Works perfect the wheels stay perfectly straight no matter where the suspension is!

Just checked my 3906 and you have it correct now. You'll still have a little bump steer because it's the nature of turnbuckle suspension but I bet it will drive much better .

You'll have a Blast with the Maxx!!!

I've never noticed my wheels pointing out/in when the truck is pressed down. hmmm i need to check.

Ya, I've never noticed being enought that it interfered with my truck anyway. It might just be a 3906 thing

mine moves slightly but not a great deal.
If you have your truck sittin very high it will have a greater effect when compressed. as the toe link pushes out when it's level with the bellcrank, then back in again above that point.like this shape ).
Get a good suspension so there more resistive travel keeping the arms level and below or above to shorten the travel and you shouldn't really notice it running.

They are different the ones that come with the 3908 are much bigger and heavier and they have those rubber boots on the ball joints. The bearings are also different.
This is a 3906 emaxx.

It goes all the way up and down without moving at all.

i'd like to see a vid of that. and how it's set up. If it's not moving then the pressure is going to the bellcrank and pushing in there.
Maybe it has a crack in it.or the hollow balls is missing leaving the movement in there.

No not at all nothing is broke I know for sure. I just took the entire truck all apart and NOTHING was broke in any way.
Everything is in great shape no cracks at all and the balls are tight.
And the bellcranks do not move the servo is in there. It would move the servo if tehy were and its not. I also watched very carefully and no movement whatsoever.

Indeed they are. The ones pictured are the original Maxx knuckles.

The 3908 knuckles first appeared on the Revo and Traxxas adapted
them to other models.
