MMP - Mamba Max Pro is what I use and it's incredible!

The higher the Kv the faster the motor will spin with the same battery. (Kv - motor velocity, not kV - Kilovolt)

1000Kv means that per volt you will get roughly 1000 rpm out of the motor. So the standard 2S lipo batteries at 7.4volts will drive a 5000kv motor at 7.4 x 5000 = 37,000rpm. If you run a 3 cell battery (3s) you will run the 5000Kv motor at 11.1volts and 11.1 x 5000 = 55,500rpm.

    Then comes gearing!

If you run a 5000Kv motor at 11.1v (3s lipo) and have a 15tooth pinion on a 50tooth spur, you will drive slower than if you had a 3500Kv motor at 11.1v and a 30tooth pinion on a 50tooth spur.

SO yes Kv is important, but what you want it for is most important. Technically a lower Kv motor is responsible for more torque, and a higher Kv is used for speed racing. People suggest a 5700kv Castle, but that's too fast in my opinion. I suggest a 4000-4700Kv motor for the best all around driving. If you want it to go faster, just put in 3S batteries and a 32tooth pinion.

I just said lots, but I tried to make it as clear as possible and hope you learned somethin'

    *cheers

    great help,

I think i will end with Mamba Max Pro and castle 4600 kV motor but not sure yet cause most places are out of stock.

What do you think of Dynamite FUZE 1/10 5800Kv Sensorless ESC & Motor Combo ??

I also came accross Integy Summit 4370KV Brushless Motor + 60A ESC but i dont think it will be very good.

Anyone try Yeah racing combo or maybe Novak combo? If so which. Novak seems good too but i think the ones i found were sensored motors with added wires,

Everyone says great things about the MMP! As far as the castle 4600kv motor. You might wanna look into the velineon 3500 honestly. I bought the 4600kv SV2 system and loved it. Then decided to try out a velineon 3500 just for fun. I ended it falling in love with the 3500. Its way smoother and it feels just as fast as the castle 4600. Im running 31/50 gearing on 2s and its stupid fast. The castle 4600 motor is sitting in the tool box as a spare.

Has anyone tried got2gorc's 6000kv setup. I have hit 46.5 mph with GPS running zpeed hawgs 28/45 gearing and had to shut down ran out of room but with a single 3 cell anytime I start getting into the throttle over 50 it just wheelies and I can't get a top end reading. Any tricks on keeping the front wheels down?

That's what my friend thought. He went that route and when we ran them I thought he shut off because mine pulled away so fast.

Thank you all for your tips! I decided to go with

Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro 1/10 Scale Brushless Car Package w/Neu Castle 1406

Apparenty this motor pushes about 30% more torque than older version same size motor

    tires will arrive soon
    Jconcepts (#3333B) Black Rulux wheels - 2.2inch
Jconcepts (#3016-03) Bar Codes Tire Medium (White Compound)

What gearing to use?? Is 23/50 fine or can i go 28/50 or should i go less than 23?? bigger tires i imagine should mean i should use smaller pinion.

Need to know gearing to order with the motor

    Thank you

Which 1406 did you order? A good gearing depends on the Kv rating of your motor.

The stock pinion will fit the 4600kv 1406 castle motor.

Hey jimbo if you can find a motor and Esc for 60 bucks that has enough power to flip over when you hammer it at 50mph let me know. I know the kv rating is over rated but it makes great power. If I went with taller gearing I could do over 50 with a 2 cell without going bb

+1 on stock motor shaft and the Castle 4600 are the same size. With that combo you dont have to worry too much about gearing.

That combo of got2gorc has some specs. 520A? I wonder which battery that fits in the compartment can feed that. Kinda funny... 520A on 2S... 3848 Watts for a motor of that size. I need hard proof before I believe anything like that.

    Update!

I was going to buy and then the store tells me i would need to submit a S$@$t load of documents to them. They were not being realistic about it either and since my billing and shipping are different plus i live in a country other than home country it was adding to the issue. so i went elsewhere that i bought in the past and i have the following options:

    1) Sensored motor: NOVAK, HAVOC 3S/BALLISTIC SPEC BRUSHLESS (8.5) 5000 KV SYSTEM with Traxxas Plug

    2) sensorless motor: Mamba Max Pro and castle 5700 kV neu motor but not sure yet cause most places are out of stock.

    3) sensorless motor: Dynamite FUZE 1/10 5800Kv Sensorless ESC & Motor Combo

    Those are my available option

    ideas?

Will also run 31/50 gearing and traxxas 3 s in parallel

That Novak would be awesome! It comes in at half the weight of the Velineon but it's nowhere near as powerful, but in these cars you won't really even notice it, you'll just get longer battery life. AND it comes with all the right connectors for both the battery and esc!

Absolutely! I still havent put the 4600kv castle motor back in my merv. I just rand it with 33/50 gearing doing high speed runs and hard braking and no ventilation in my shell and the motor was running cool lol. So i decided to order some 3s lipos and a 45t spur to see if this motor ever heats up lol. Most likely ill just run the setup for 2 or 3 speed runs then give it a brake because i think itll get hot with that gearing on 3s.

DON'T RUN A METAL SPUR!!!!! if you do, you will need hardened steel pinions (costing upwardss of $10 each) also, there needs to be a weak link htere, if there isn't your internal tranny gears are next.... also, i wouldnt run steel tranny gears either.....

tons of people here will back me up on this

I dont have any experience with the steel transmission gears but i dont see the point honestly. You have 2 built in fail safes before them. Your slipper clutch and your spur. I think something it wrong if you are tearing through transmissions lol.

Just be careful setting your mesh and you wont have any problems stripping spurs.
