Hot motor and esc best gearing for 6s and 4s driving

I have the stock gearing on my e revo brushless and the esc is on the protection mode but my motor is also hot so what gearing is good will 21/54 be good?

What are the actual temps? The ESC fan kicks on at 150 degrees (F), and doesn't mean that it's getting too hot.

Idk the actual temps but the truck shuts down it gets so hot but the motor is hot too so idk what to do.

i run 23/65 on 4s and it is a nice set up for me

I run 18/54 on 4s and don't have temp issues.

I highly recommend a digital temp gun. $25 from a LHS or tower.

Now that is hot, you need a temp gun if you are getting thermal shut down. Where are you driving, in tall grass, really runs up the temps. 21/54 is a good start for both 4s & 6s.. get a temp gun from ebay for cheap...

Im getting a temp gun this weekend I cant put it off it is really needed and can be used for other things too. Im aslo going to try to get 21/54 gears. I am driving on 2 1/2 inch grass and idk if the big joes tires are effecting it also the mulched leavs let the tires spin a little so idk if that will effect it also. I dont think im running it that hard either. The esc gets hotter on 3s and the motor gets hotter on 2s.

Its those tires man...mind you they are huge compared to stock.Our truck does the same with the trenchers.You just have to slow down give it short breaks or gear down to a slower setup

Wise choice example I can...excuse me my son can run a complete 14 lap race up against e truggys with a 5 cell 21/54 using crime fighters mounted on Losi deep dish with no heat issues.Same gearing same batteries 3 maybe 4 laps truck gets hot shuts down using these

Traxxas recommends that gearing for onroad only, for this reason.

Also my esc keeps coming off the truck and is hanging on by the wires iv tried the foam tape stuff and also glue but it wont stay on. Any way to keep it on better. Im scared that ill hit a jump and my esc will come flying out of my truck.

don't you have the holder on the ESC. I don't use servo tape just use the hold down bracket.

No the screws came out and a guy at my lhs said the tape stuff would work better. Should I also pick up the screws for the bracket.

yep I would, but a really good servo tape will hold it down too...clean both surfaces really good.....
