It's funny, I built my truck initially as an Erevo geared low with a 775 to keep it simple but I have since added many Summit parts to make it more trail worthy. Now, reading your thread makes me want to build another one more for track and speed. Thanks Pav, reading your Summit and Erevo threads encourages me to keep spending more money!

haha... SORRY. I thought initially I would want more trail capabilities for this truck and that I wouldn't mind not having the extra speed. I had a full bore brushless ERBE a while ago, every sweet part you could want including the castle 1518 motor. It was just way too much on 6S and at the time I didnt own any 2S packs to run it on 4S so it just scared me off. Im really liking this truck as an E-Revo but don't like the heavy body and I want a bit more speed out of it.

I just bought ANOTHER ERBE on the forum here with a bunch of extras and stuff... ill be keeping a few of the upgrades from that truck and selling the rest off. But generally I try to get most of my extra parts through buying and selling to keep the costs down. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

Im home from vacation now and got to work on the truck immediately. For now I've got an MMM ESC with an XErun 2200kv motor in it. Ive geared it 17/56... which is pretty conservative for 4S. But ill see how it goes like this then ill push it higher if I need/want to.

I did get my ********* 150amp ESCs in the mail today and got one of them, along with one of my EZrun 2700kv motors soldered up and programmed. The ESC itself looks excellent and ill post up some photos and a review when i get a chance to run it. I figured it would be best if I ran the truck with a proven system like the MMM/2200 first to have a baseline of comparison for the *********t/2700kv combo. Im quite nervous about this ESC though. After buying it I read ALOT of reviews that said it just stops working for no reason, even on only 4S. So hopefully I got a few good ones.

I ALSO have a NEU 1515 1Y motor here I can try in the truck (only with the MMM) Its 2200kv but is a real NEU motor... and as some of you may know, a NEU motor is considered one of the very best and most powerful motors you can get. Im not sure I really need or want to run full time but it will be fun to try anyway.

Non of my upgrade parts and non of the bodies I have ordered for this truck have come in yet. I was hoping they would all be here by the time I got home. Im still hoping for tomorrow for at least a body so I can run the truck looking like a revo. Im getting sick of it looking like a summit.

Keep the updates coming with pics, funny how you are getting sick of it looking like a Summit, and I just turned my EMBE into "looking" like a Summit. Sounds like you've got some nice rides for different terrains.

Oh My Goodness... I had no idea a 2200kv brushless setup would be so insane on 4S... its no wonder my last ERBE scared me away on 6S. This thing is nuts. I only got a chance to run half a pack or so through it but its just so darn fast. It can do things it could never do before.

This is with the MMM/2200kv combo. Im going to throw in the ********* 2700kv combo and gear it down with a 15t pinion and see how that runs. I did finally get my ERBE body in the mail today... so hopefully I can cut or modify the Summit body mounts (better yet, my new ERBE body mount comes in tomorrow in the mail) so I can start running this body. No bumpers just yet... so it will look interesting. Ill get some pics when I get a chance.

I love the MM & Neu-2200kv motor. They are beasts!!! I've run mine on 4s, 5s, & 6s.....the sucker just screams and the motor stays cool to. I've kept min on conservative gearing aslo. I'm afraid to gear up for some reason. LOL I might have to mess with it when i get off the Turnaround.

Hey i'm putting the MM & Neu-2650kv in my Sl4sh build. I can't wait to see how good this combo runs. Its another beast of a motor.

Well, I ran this truck at my track today and all I can say is "SWEET"!!. Seriously, I can clear anything without even trying. i can't hit more than 1/2 throttle anywhere on the truck.

This motor is suspect though. Its getting really hot. I know its never been overheated before as I only ever ran it (since new) in my GTP2E Onroad car. Im going to try this EZrun 2700kv motor have and gear it way down to see how it runs. Its a higher KV but ill try to compensate with gearing to see how it goes.

I did get my Green ERBE body in the mail and had to cut down the summit body posts to fit it. Its still really high for an E-Revo body, but looks WAY better already than the summit body and I can absolutely tell a difference in the weight of the truck while its running. Truck lands softer and jumps smoother. Im still running the summit bumpers, front looks strange but the rear looks awesome. I'm going to keep running the rear when I get my E-Revo body and wing mounts. It looks that good IMO.

Finally, I got a new servo in the mail. its a JR Z8800T and its a beast. 400oz at 6volts and .15 transit time. not OVERLY fast, but really strong. Its a great servo and I really like it in this truck.

Heres some pics of the setup so far. Only a few parts away from having it done.

Ill be out again this afternoon and ill get some pics up. Ive installed the ********* 150 amp and EZrun 2700kv motor to test out this afternoon and we'll see how that goes. Ill get a video and some pics up later tonight.

Vacation was great. And yes, I did get all my parts. Bought, parted out, sold and shipped 3 trucks while I was down there. Hehe...

Well, I spent the afternoon out running again today. Had a great time and really pushed the E-Revo to the max on a few jumps trying to clear some larger gaps on my track that were never really meant to be cleared. I got a video of just some general running. Not my best laps but you can see how much easier the truck is to drive fast around the track with the extra power of the brushless system on tap.

Today I started out running the ********* 150amp ESC with the EZrun 2700kv motor. I had the motor geared 15/58 and it was getting up to 160 degrees pretty fast. Much faster than I was comfortable with. The ********* ESC was impressive... it had smooth power delivery and didnt get above 115 degrees... which is what my MMM was getting up to as well. Its ever so slightly larger than the MMM so you can't actually use the stock mount holes on the chassis without dremmeling a bit off the ESC case (which I didnt do). But honestly, for the $65 I paid for the ESC it held up great. Unfortunately one of my motor wires was longer and floppier than it should have been and fell onto the slipper nut which rubbed right through it, so I had to switch back to my MMM with the 2700kv motor the 2nd half of the day. I geared it down to 12/58. This was MUCH slower and the motor was definitely over revving but was still getting a little warmer than i wanted after a set of packs (160 degrees). So, I'm not convinced this motor is a great choice for this truck even geared low... but it still worked and pulled the truck around with great speeds.

Heres some pics of the motor/ESC as I set it up. I have a video coming as well as soon as its done uploading.

This is a comparison between an MMM and the ********* 150:

Heres whats included in the box:

Here it is all soldered up, I didnt use the included wires. I used some extra 12gauge wire I had:

Yes, I have the gears, but I also have a hot racing motor plate coming and I dont want to pull the transmission twice so I'm just going to do it all at once. I hate the slop in the 2speed.

I have eliminated almost all of the slop in my 2 speed in my trail truck. I actually ran a single speed geared really low until I modded the 2 speed because the slop drove me crazy. But in a truck built for speed or the track such as yours, the single speed is definitely the way to go.

IDK what is up with your motors. Were you running 15/58 or 19/58 with the 2200Kv? And that was the Neu or CC-Neu? I'm pretty sure I could run that course all day with my ERBE and not go over 160°F. Are you sure your temps would have continued to rise or did they plateau?
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

I thought it was strange as well with the 2200kv motor. Its not a Castle motor. Its an XErun. I don't know if they plateaued or not. I didnt check them often. Only at the end of the run so I'm not sure if they had simply peaked at 160 or were still climbing. The gearing at first was 17/58. Then when I was running the 2700kv motor my temps again peaked at 160 but I was geared 12/58. So, I'm going to keep trying this setup to see what the results are. Could be just that this is the temp the motors run at. But I'm not giving up. Hehe.

Finally eh Dreaded. Your going to love it. I suggest not going all out with it. Just run it on 4S and enjoy it. I havent found ANY need at all to go to 6S. 4S is way more than enough for anything I've wanted to do.

I would like to get my hands on a 2200kv castle motor. But I'm not going to pay new prices for one. Im on the lookout but until I find the right deal on a new or nearly new one, ill just run the XErun motor and watch the temps.

Also, just ordered the RPM True Track rear end. Ill loose my long wheel base but Ive bend the rear camber links and can really see the benefits to not having extra parts back there.

I was ALMOST going to make a deal with you but I dont want to get rid of my Mamba Monster motor. When I was planning on building an E-Revo, I was going to use a Xerun Sensored 4274SD 2200kv motor/ESC combo. And I found one for $175 online. Maybe you should look at that combo. But then again, you sound likd you are looking for a MM motor. Hope your having fun with your E-Revo.

Im looking for a 1515 1Y which is 2200kv. Just like what the truck comes with stock. That one you sent me the link to is a 1515 1.5Y which is 1800kv... so its a bit smaller. Designed for 1/8 buggies. Not monster trucks.

Just got a 2200kv motor on the market place. So, ill try that against the XErun motor and see how it does. I wish I ahd a few spare motor mounts so I could just have them ready to bolt in. That would be handy.

I also got my order for LiquidRC.com today. ERBE body mounts, wing mount and white wing along with some RPM Bumpers front and rear. The truck looks SO much better with the proper body mounts but I found out the summit front bumper mount is different than the ERBE... so I need to get a proper ERBE bumper mount now. Oh well.

I fixed the wires on the ********* ESC so ill be running that again with the 2200kv motor I think, to see how it handles a bit more run time.

Im gone to Moab Utah till friday on business... but ill put some miles on the truck this coming weekend.

Man, I just got my 2200kv castle motor from BadMonty... that was FAST. I STILL havent got my order from e-bay that included the Hot Racing motor plate so I decided to just go ahead and install the single speed gears now, which was definitely one of the easiest things I've ever done. The more I work on this truck, the more I like it. Other than accessing the diffs, Its SO easy to take apart and put back together. I was interested to see that my centre driveshafts show ZERO signs of wear. They look brand new. I guess 4S is pretty easy on this thing.

So I installed the single speed gears and 2200kv motor, I removed the last remnants of the summit LED lights (the centre harness) and put it all back together. Ill be out tomorrow at the track to test it out with 17/58 gearing. Hopefully with this castle motor it stays completely cool. Im going to let my buddy run the ********* ESC and EZrun motor in his E-Revo to put some more miles on it. He's currently running the 775 combo and WANTS to go brushless but is indecisive. So, I figure, if I let him do the "testing" on the ********* setup for me it may also convince him to buy it. Hehe. Sneaky sneaky.

they are identical. Its only the parts that are bolted TO the chassis that are different. Ill see if I can get a vid tomorrow at some point. I ran the truck today and its amazing with the 2200 motor. I also installed my MT4 Temp sensor and set some alarm levels on the radio so i don't have to monitor it quite so close. I ran for about 3/4's of a pack today on 4S geared 17/58 and didnt get to 160... so I'm fairly happy with that. I also finished mounting up some HPI Dirt Bones tires on 1/2 offset Maximizer headlocks. Its a pretty sweet combo. Nearly identical in diameter to the badlands but with a wider, more rounded profile. They work o.k. on my track, not as good as the badlands in the corners but because they are a 3.2 tire they have alot more sidewall and are therefore much more forgiving when landing the truck crooked or sliding into obstacles (rocks). Im going to keep them and put a few more miles on them.

    Ill have pics up tonight.

I have some bow ties on 3.8 Dish rims. Havent run them yet. My track has alot of rocks and the bow ties have really short sidewalls. Im worried ill damage them so I'm keeping them for a track day I may or may not end up getting to try.

They have been discontinued for a while due to the switch from MT racing to truggy racing. I have a set of 3.2" premoumts and I think they are very good indeed. Being a race tire they make the ERBE behave more like a scalpel than the steak knife it feels like with other tires.

So this has been brought up in another thread and I hate thread jacking so I'm going to ask about it here in hopes someone sees it. May also put up a thread in the ERBE forum since this truck is basically an ERBE now (not basically, it is)

Im geared 17/58 on 4S and my motor (actually all 3 motors I've run) are running hotter than I expect they should. Upwards of 165 after less than one set of 5400mah packs. 87GN suggested that if your motor is hot and ESC is cool (fan still comes on but its not thermaling at all) I could be UNDER geared. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you think I could be under geared? I like the speed and power right now. Its fast but not unusable or scary. Im just not comfortable with this heat. Ive heard from lots of people that you can run an MMM powered ERBE on 4S without any real heat issues.

    Any thoughts?

Do you have a similar reading from another IR thermometer? Is the emissivity set at 77 (.077)? 17/58 should not be undergeared enough to cause heat issues.

Thats what I thought. My Duratrax temp gun AND my MT4 temp readout are within 2 degrees of each other. Even if they were off by 5 degrees, its still to high for being geared like this IMO. Im just not comfortable with whats going on. Im going to keep running it of course. And I've checked for binding and there is none. All the bearings and diffs are good.

Its just weird. I feel like I should just run 2 sets of packs back to back without stopping and see if it just tops out at 165 or if it keeps climbing.

Its just weird. I feel like I should just run 2 sets of packs back to back without stopping and see if it just tops out at 165 or if it keeps climbing.
Now wouldn't that be such a chore!

I ran the truck through one FULL set of packs today without stopping at all. Temps rose to 180 and did not stop rising. I was just about to shut it down to cool off as the LVC kicked in. My MT4 telemetry is more accurate in the 120-160 range. Once the motor gets over 160 it seems the sensor gets out of whack and isnt reading properly. But at least I can use it as a guideline.

Im going to try gearing it a bit LOWER still, with a 15 or 16t pinion and see how that goes. If it doesnt help ill try what GN87 is suggesting elsewhere and gear it UP... I don't think the motor is under geared and since I'm not running more than half throttle most of the time it can't be over revving...

Here are some pics of my setup now. The band around the motor is a bit of lipo battery heat shrink that holds the temp sensor on the bottom of the motor (where it gets the least cooling air and would be the hottest). Only other real upgrade at this point is the Tbone skid plate... which is a must have IMO.

Im not crazy about the white wing/green body combo. The body I have here to paint will get alot more white so it should flow better:

Heres how the temp sensor is mounted:

And last but not least, the tbone skid:

Those are HPI Dirt Bonez... they are a 3.2 size with a standard bead (hard to find these days). They hook up good in the dirt but not as good as the badlands. Which ill be switching back to. I like the rounded profile and thicker sidewall though. They seem to soak up the rough ground better than the more narrow 3.8 badlands. I would love it if I could still buy a set of 3.2 badlands. They would be perfect IMO.

Running 21/62 & TerraPins with a combination of running up and down a street and much more flying around in grass with heavy acceleration and braking, I couldn't get temps over 150°F. I tried.

Im going to gear up... I'm going to go to 18/56 to start and see how that effects things. Then I may try 18/54 later on.

FINALLY got around to painting my slipstream body up. Im happy with the result. I wish id used a bit darker blue. I say that EVERY time I use this blue and EVERY time I just keep using it. What do you think?

Im still debating on weather to tint the windows or paint them completely black. Or, I guess, leave them clear. I have always liked the blacked out window look though.

I need to find some "E-Revo BRUSHLESS EDITION" stickers now. Traxxas needs to sell just the truck name stickers instead of full sticker sheets IMO.
