    Dished XO-1 Wheels...

Are they better performance wise? Maybe it's because I am new to this r/c stuff but why wouldn't you pay the extremely small price difference to get the chrome spoked wheels/tires?

In my case the nice wheels were sold out. The choice was to shelf the car and wait for new stock, or run mismatched wheels.

I was in the same boat as Ducati, only wheels available where the black dish wheels. As far as more performance it's hard to say. I did hit my best speed at 106mph on them, bUt I'd also done sme other adjustments as well so who's to say what helped the most. At most it's probably marginal.

Aero wise they dish is probably a bit better, but look wise obviously not as nice as the spokes. Good to have choices I guess.

How hard is it to take the stock tires off the XO-1 wheels?

What kind of tools/glue do you need in order to mount the new tires on the wheels?

Or, should I just buy new tires and wheels?

I was thinking about that the other day. I've got a real mental block against building tires. Its really not that difficult, but I just never look forward to it. Out of laziness I'll probably keep buying pre-mounted tires....

But I suspect the usual acetone/baking technique should work....

Gluing tires is probably my least favorite part of this hobby, that and balancing and sharpening boat props.

My LHS said just using acetone should do the job though I have not tried. With this caliber of vehicle Ill stick to the pre-mounts. WHat is it like $20 more than just tires themselves? The time saved itself makes it worthwhile for me.

Matter of fact I just picked up my third set of wheels and tires yesterday with a clear body. They will be my shelf set haha.

I've seen several people say to boil them in water. Anyone tried that?

I've tried the boiling method it works but it will stink up your kitchen. I just removed a set of tires using acetone but easier imo.

for this I would think just buy the factory glued wheels , for the price you cant beat it now , you can buy a set of wheels on ebay for $85 shipped , can get dished wheels in the $75 price range shipped
just picked up a clear body for $43 shipped

I still haven't decided what I am going to do with the wheels and tires because I want a nice set of wheels for when it's on the shelf, basically because with $2,000+ in this car I want it to at least look like $2,000 when it's not working for it's money!

I picked up another brand new red body w/spoiler for $54 shipped in the meantime. I saw that deal on ebay for the clear one at $43, but then I would have to get another spoiler so the price would be the same. That's the best price I have seen for a clear body though.

I guess I didn't look at the pictures close enough. Oh well, I will just have to order a clear body too.

Try the white and add a bit of a brite color of your choice as the accent color. I'm sure it would look good.

As for taking tires of rims i use a scalpel blade and carefully cut the tire of the rim. Boiling or baking is not a option after you can get good at the method i do. Faster and less stinky.
