    First run=broken

So im excited about the XO1. Took it out with my GF and my friend that has his Nitro Rustler. Were running on the road, I cant do much at all because the road reflectors are an XO-1's nightmare (LOL). So I hit the throttle a little bit, and i wind up in the grass, put the car back on the road and an awful noise comes out of it. So i pull the lid off, thinking it was a rock somewhere, but it was coming from the rear diff. The axles were flopping around a good bit so i just quit. Brought it home, took it apart to find out the rear diff was missing one of the side bearings. Yes, MISSING! How strange is that? Anyways, im not here to bash traxxas, people make mistakes all the time. Im going to call them tomorrow about this issue. It ate a good chunk out of the diff housing and the ring gear has a couple of chips in it. Check for stuff like this when you get one! On the contrary, this thing is absolutely INSANE!

I'm sure given their track record Traxxas will help you out, but you didn't give the Car a once over before running it?

Actually, I do give all my vehicles a look before i run them. However, this issue didnt stand out to me. I didnt think id have to deal with MISSING parts. Maybe a loose screw here and there BUT from now on I will surely check.

Its a good habit to have, you never know what you may run across that snuck out of quality control unnoticed.

It sucks, cause the last thing you want to do with a new ride is tear it down or have to check everything over, but it can sure save a lot of headaches.

The last problem i had with quality control is that the revo 3.3 diffs got put in my E-Revo brushless. It didnt have the I beam and i busted it my first run without bashing. I couldnt see that. Traxxas has always been good about standing behind their products so as i said Im not bashing them what so ever. This is more of an informative post.

I'm talking in general. Not calling you out for bashing, don't take it that way.
Friday afternoon quality control can happen to the best of them

Like i mentioned traxxas will help you out no problem.

I know you werent calling me out. I just know if the mods get a hint of bashing they will close the thread. This should be more of an informative thing than anything else. Traxxas has always been good to me (and ive been a loyal customer as well LOL) so im more than confident they will take care of this.

I normally don't check for missing bearings. Rest assured Traxxas Customer Service is second none.

Only thng I can tell you is it might be cheaper just to buy the part needed depending on your time . If they ask you to send the whole car in don't expect it back for at least a month .

I have to say that I didn't give a good look over on the one new truck I bought (slash 4x4) when I got it. I didn't encounter any issues with it but I won't take chances next time.

Did the housing get broken and the bearing come out? It looks like the edge of the housing is missing in the picture but it may be the angle of the picture.

second run= broken! LOL I broke the front bumper... Anyways, this thing is all over the road no matter what. Ive adjusted the steering trim but it will stay that way for a minute then its back to needing adjustment in the opposite direction. I picked the car up and hit the gas and the front wheels started turning on their own. There is too much gear slop in the servo. Is this normal? Whats a nice cheap upgrade? Im not looking for a 200 dollar servo but something nice

I think others have changed the servo spring to a black one maybe stronger not sure really , theres a thread on it IIRC... I didnt have an issue before but ever since I put thicker diff oil in my front it seems mine wont walk a straight line for life of it .. Also could have somthing todo with multifunction depending if its on steering ..

Funny how my LHS has all kinds of stuff but not a drivestaft pin . was bummed Id be down Easter weekend , came home sitting round see a broken piece of drill bit . shove it in the hole and bam fits like a glove lolol
We back on the road again !!

    Goodluck

Good job man! Nothing wrong with innovation. Anywho, i dont think the servo spring is my issue, the play is at the actual servo itself, when i move the wheels side to side i can see the slop at the servo. That seems to be the only place that has play in my steering.
