    2 months later....

Finally got my ESC back from Castle.

I had the MMP and my slow poke outrunner in the truck, but it just wasn't ideal. It couldn't get going from a stop, the top speed was only about 32 mph.

Now I've got the MMM back, and put the stock motor back in the truck last night. Then I got to thinking, and started installing bearings and balancing tires... Not done yet.

Still need to program ESC, finish balancing, and then install new bearings in at least all the knuckles, the rest of the truck can wait. Hopefully I'll have it buttoned up for the weekend and I can get some offroad action in.

I just got my replacement MMM after about 6 weeks too...I emailed them a couple weeks ago or so ago and it sounded like they just didn't have the spare stock to send out until now...but considering they basically give you a brand new 140 dollar MMM for 70 bucks just for sending in a dead one, no questions asked, I ain't complaining

the bad thing is that i bought 3 freaking helicopters since then and my credit card is overheating :P good luck ducati on the maintenance.

I haven't linked it yet... but the new ones supposedly have an adjustable BEC too! I love me some new features, so I'm not complaining.... but I would have put a heap more mileage on the truck if I had the ESC back sooner.

yeah, I noticed the bec voltage setting in the 1.32 firmware when I was setting it up...unfortunately for me it still has the low throttle surge problem with my 2200 so I have to go all the way back to 1.24 on the firmware to get rid of that problem.

Interesting.... are you running any torque limiting?

I'd get some funky behavior at low speeds when running torque limiting....

no, but that is one of the things I'de like to try out but can't because of this surge problem.

what's the surge problem? I think i have that and thought the torque limiter fixed it for others?
When i had my rustler with MMP and 3800 it surged and i just went to a lower firmware and it took care of it.

This is the most recent thread in which it was discussed. Basically the low throttle surge problem is this.... about 2 seconds from when you start moving from a dead stop it will have a sudden little surge of throttle, kind of like you yanked the throttle back suddenly for an instant, but you didn't.

wow... I'm lazy. Got the esc back around 4/5, haven't run the truck until yesterday....

New esc works like the old one.... meaning excellent. No surprise there really.

But the new steering servo is a fun upgrade. The handling is definately more crisp now, I actually had to add in some expo on the steering, something I've never felt was required on the ERBE before...

errrr in hindsight, this isn't the thread where I said I put in a new single servo.

But the heck with it, I'm still quite happy with it. I ramped the BEC up to 7 volts, new servo dropped in just fine, and appears to move the wheels with more authority than before.

    hey duc

my esc also arrived yesterday, from january 15!!!! lol...

works fine as well but i ve been busy with the helis... great stuff.

i upgraded the servos as well ( i also have a bec there) but i bought 2 servos again. sure with single servo you can get speed and torque but there is an advantage in dual servos that noone mentioned, in bumps-crashes you have 2 sets of servo gears getting stressed and not one..
