You should get to know your truck and it's manual as well as relying on the forums (great resource though they are.) Check page 28.

Also, if the question is related to a post you made previously it's better to use that post to ask it so there aren't 4 different threads with very similar titles posted within the same block of time by the same person. This not only helps keep the recent threads uncluttered, but it consolidates all the related information for when someone else with similar problems comes looking. Chances are, if they have trouble with what light means what, they may also see something in that thread that will help them later as well. It's also easier for people trying to help you, as they can respond to multiple q's in one reply.

@ksb51rl that is talking about the transmitter and receiver not the esc , and @toyboarder i have come to the conclusion that if you do what you talking about people seem to forget about the thread after the first or second time i post in it(trust me its happened) so i made a new thread

    Flashing red (p16 manual)

    Thermal Shutdown Protection
The EVX-2 is equipped with thermal shutdown protection to guard
against overheating caused by excessive current flow. If the operating
temperature exceeds safe limits, the EVX-2 will automatically shut
down and the EVX-2 LED will flash red. The LED on the face of the EVX-
2 will continuously flash red, even if the throttle trigger is moved back
and forth. After the speed control cools down to a safe level,
the LED will continuously shine green. The EVX-2 will once again
    function normally.

Were you able to get the LVD shut off with the nimh's or is that still an issue as well?

Correct, sir! I looked quickly at an on-line version since I do not have the latest manual and I figured you did. Apologies.

Same here but NO SHUTDOWN, I have the newer version with LVC and if i bash around with a pack of high C-rated batteries, suddenly the EVX-2 starts blinking red. The manual says "thermal shutdown" but the truck continues to run just at a very slow speed, about 50% of normal. The batteries are pretty full say 3.8V each cell = 7.6 per side.

The EVX-2 ESC isn't even warm. How can I prevent that "slow down"?

    Check for a warm servo.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

This is a text taken from the manual:

    LED Codes and Protection Modes

    • Solid Green: EVX-2 power-on light. Low-Voltage Detection is ACTIVATED
    (LiPo setting).

    • Solid Red: EVX-2 power-on light. Low-Voltage Detection is DISABLED
(NiCad/NiMH setting). Never use LiPo batteries while Low-Voltage
    Detection is disabled.

    • Fast Blinking Red: The EVX-2 is equipped with thermal shutdown
protection to guard against overheating caused by excessive current
flow. If the operating temperature exceeds safe limits, the EVX-2 will
automatically shut down. Let the EVX-2 cool. Make sure your model is
    properly geared for the conditions.

    • Slow Blinking Red (with Low-Voltage Detection on): The EVX-2 has
entered Low-Voltage Protection. When the battery voltage begins to
reach the minimum recommended discharge voltage threshold for LiPo
battery packs, the EVX-2 will limit the power output to 50% throttle. When
the battery voltage attempts to fall below the minimum threshold, the
EVX-2 will shut down all motor output. The LED on the speed control will
slowly blink red, indicating a low-voltage shutdown. The EVX-2 will stay in
this mode until a fully charged battery is connected.

    • Fast Blinking Green: The EVX-2’s LED will blink fast green if Throttle
Neutral Protection is activated, or if the speed control is not receiving
a signal. Make certain the speed control is properly plugged into the
receiver and the transmitter is switched on. If this does not restore normal
operation, then the EVX-2 is indicating the transmitter’s Throttle Trim is
incorrectly set. Reset the throttle trim to the “0” position.

    • Flashing Red and Green: The EVX-2 has entered Over Voltage Protection.
If a battery with too high voltage (over 14.8 volts) is used, the EVX-2 will
    go into a failsafe mode
