please help! for those that have deanodized the aluminum gear on your spartan

I want to deanodized all that ugly blue, how do I get the brass bushings out of the drive hub and rudder assembly? ANy info/help would be hugely appreciated !!!!

Ditto what BSC posted... I used a plummers drain cleaner (Drano) small plastic bucket and rubber gloves... Make sure to rinse real well when all the blue or what ever color your removeing. The products will have an uneven finish to them so then just buff or polish to your desired luster

You can push the bushings out using a small arbor press or use a small hand tourch to heat the aluminum causing it to expand, not too much heat, then push out the bushings in the strut and or rudder as needed.

Just go buy the plain duel pick up rudder. Your going to need it anyways! Lol

ok thanks guys, im very experienced at the deanodizing process, I jsut wondered about the busings, I went ahead and did it with the bushings in, and it seems to have turned out ok

I used havy duty oven cleaner, be careful notot leave on toolong, after that im gonna polish it al up with eagle one polish wadding

I used Greased Lightning, not quite as aggresive, but still works just fine. I painted my boat red, and the blue looked terrible. Now it's all shiny aluminum, and looks great!

i bet white vinegar will work too. i used it to get the black off of a golf barrel
