Buying the Violator fuel tank and doing the upgrade

Hey guys I have the T-maxx 4907. Heres my question.. I ordered the OFNA tank 40109 and also the traxxas posts 4944. I do have to drill 2 new holes correct? Also can I still use the factory battery box or will I have to remove it completely? Because I would like to still use the battery box. I seen the posts about teh OFNA tank but I also seen posts with no battery box

Only 1 hole needs to be drilled. You use the rear hole that attached the battery box for the rear post.
As for using the battery box, if you have someplace open on the chassis to mount it you can use it.
    No slipper/tall gearing/power = broken parts.

I recently fitted one to my TMaxx. I purchased two sets of the Bell Crank Posts though and put my std battery box above the steering servo.

yeah, you can use it most of us just go ahead and ditch the battery box is all. but like said, as long as you find a place to mount it you dont have to delete it. heres mine though.

Just wondering, what do you gain by switching to the violator tank? Is it a lot bigger or what?

Its more durable, holds 25cc more fuel, has a built in fuel filter, reduces the ½ tank lean issue and the pressure nipple can be rotated 360°.

The tank above does need to be installed with the offset toward the transmission so the fuel pickup is in the rear, otherwise once the fuel level get low enough the forward momentum of the truck or if traveling up hill will cause the fuel to pool at the rear of the tank which will starve the engine of fuel.

Not really we all have those days.

Use the rear batter box hole & drill a new hole for the front post. No harm done.
    Look out for the tree/crunch!

while your out buy some longer 3mm screws. You need longer ones to go through the battery box to the new mount.. I used some 3mmx30 I think it was

I am waiting for my parts to come in to do this upgrade. I ordered 2 sets of Axial 7x40mm threaded posts for rock crawlers. I was reading somewhere that these are perfect for mounting the violator fuel tank.

No,, you're not,,, it's backwards...... The fuel outlet should face the rear of the truck... Your's is facing the front...

When you cut the bell cranks is it threaded all the way through or did you have to re-tap it to mount the battery box to it?

Also is there a good way to measure where to drill the holes or is it just put it up there and eyeball it?

How did you get the pin out to turn the lid of your tank around or did yours come facing that way? Mine came facing the back when the offset in the tank faces the transmission.

Nevermind I see yours is like mine.

I did something totally different with mine, and it works real nice. I've made some small changes to it since this pic was taken, but it's basically the same.

Lubecakes, How is the balance side to side on that first one I've seen with it mounted there. I had a revo tank mounted across the front to try to keep weight to the opposite side of the engine and pipe.

It actually flies pretty level over big jumps, and I can't see it leaning more in either direction when I turn.
The 5 cell hump and full tank are enough to control the wheelies pretty good too. I'm actually using a revo tank now, since the violator has been swapped over to my platinum.

I’ve ran the violator tank up front also on a few of my builds. I prefer it there and don’t see any negative effect with handling at all. Just more weight up front to keep the wheels down.
