Does anyone use the 2400kv to race on 2s? It's either this or the 3800kv.

2400 will be too slow on 2s less than 40mph, 3800 will be a better choice for 2s.

Idk where you race but i dont think you can hit 40mph on a sc track. My 2400 performs very well on 2s at our indoor offroad track.

In fact my buddy is running a mmp sct 2400 in his sc10 4x4 ft truck and loves it as well.

Well he specified for racing, the 2400 can be geared to run excellent on 2s and still have plenty of torque as well.

Hmm... Interesting. My outdoor track has at least a 175-200ft straight, a mix of 8th & 10th scale racers. But I just might stick with the 3800, it sounds better for my needs.

if the motor runs cool on 3s why would it even run warm on 2s lol. My 2400 is run on 2s with 18/54 and its not even warm after a full battery and i'm not using a heatsink or fan on 2s. I can probably go up 4 teeth if i wanted to but its plenty quick as is. dont gear for a straight gear for the rest of the track. Pretty much you want to hit top speed half way down the straight. just play with the gears man.

You thought I have a 2400kv, I don't. I thought it would make it hotter because I have a 1406 5700kv. I need to know if someone here races with the 2400kv, becuase that's what I'm doing.

I run my 2400 on the track often. With 2s and 13/50 - 13/54 gears the motor never gets hot after running multiple packs non-stop. With 19/50 on 2s it's no different although it does lack the punch of the lower gearing which can be a plus under certain track conditions.
With 3s on the track it gets warm (not to hot to hold for several seconds) with 19/50 but with 13/50 I have a hard time controlling the spinning. I have a 16t to try and I'm gonna change the esc setting to tame the torque a lil' in hopes that I can run some faster consistant laps with a 3s because smoking down the staights is just to much fun.

What i did since i had no clue about any motor castle or teken. I called the customer service line for castle and talk
To the guy for an half hour it was very cool of him to take the time to explain to me all the types of motors and even discussed
Other competitors products never once bad mouthing other brands. It was a school session that i will always remember. After talking with the gentlemen i was convinced on the MMP 2400. I've been running this system since August of 2011 i love it. I run 2s at the track i don't need all that power on the track and when i bash i pop in the 3s. Im running oversized street wheels/tryes and still no heat issue.

UPDATE: i was driving my truck on 4s with my buddy in his stampede 2wd. His was on 3s. We were doing speed runs, and thats it. He had to stop after 10 mins because it kept getting hot, mine was running cool after 10 minutes, about 95 degress.

His motor got up to 215 at the end of the pack

Mine got up to 145 and the pack wasnt even done yet.

    loving this castle soooo much.

If you haven't upgraded your cvd's yet, they'll be toast in two wheelies or less. MIP's or similar are in your future. I also broke several rear carriers until I switched to aluminum.

Yeah I got mips on all 4 axles. Do I need to change the motor mount or can I run the stock. But I think mine is just a stock one but its aluminum. Any other advice. Im reading everyones post and I can't wait. Would a 13/52 be good heading to run?

I've used the stock mount for months of hard driving without any problems. I'd say use it until it breaks.

I like 22/54 or 20/54 for everyday runs. A lot of torque and quick from a dead stop. I never hit top speed off road so gearing higher doesn't make much sense unless you are doing speed runs on 4s. If you like running fast on the street, go for 22/50 or better and 4s and don't hit the curbs!!!

How are you guys keeping Hex's in your wheels with the 2400.. Im stripping them every trip out.

Even had the pins completely cut a channel within the hex. Tried aluminum hex's and that only saves the hex itself, the wheel still strips.
Slipper is set right, to the best of my ability. Im only running 16/54 on 3S with all sorts of wheel/tire combos you would run on a MT version of the truck. stock tallons, proline torque, RPM 2.2 wide crawler wheels.. etc....
Always in Trouble for trying to help out.

I've stripped many wheels and cracked several even with loctite. I switched to 17mm hexes and no more broken wheels.
