Yes it will fit with the stock gears, its the same thing as a Traxxas one only it is made by RPM and it is a little stronger than the Traxxas one.

Plus it closes up the opening at the bottom near the yoke/ shaft. I can't remember but you might have to go down from the stock 90t to an 86t spur. I know I can run 86t and 83t no problems. It's a very good upgrade IMO.

I seem to remember that the 90T spur will rub a little bit on the RPM gear cover. I can check tonight.

As digger said, if yours is an 86t you should be fine. If you have a VXL I believe those come with the 86t stock, it will say on the side. This cover is really a must have as soooo much stuff will get up in there without it. And for like $6 you can't go wrong.

Look on the side of the spur and see what it says. XL5 come with 90t. Spurs are fairly cheap, it would be a good idea to pick up a couple if you do anyways.

I just tried a 90 tooth spur with an RPM gear cover and it works just fine. No rubbing.

xl-5 rustler do not come with 90t's they come with 86t's.
And by the way guys you don't need to upgrade the gear cover just to get rid of that little hole. Just put a little piece of tape over it. Duct tape works good. And other than that there is no reason to upgrade the gear cover...I don't think it's possible to break it.

Stampede forum and I actually did put duct tape over it until I was at the hobbyshop and saw the blue cover, which matched my theme. They also come in green...it's one of those things that doesn't need replaced, but a lot of people get it due to the color options + price + covering the hole.

hmm. Mine wont fit over a 90T. It also says on the RPM gear cover package that it doesnt. No big deal though, a 86 spur gear is very cheap. Good thing to replace anyways.

Dude you are posting in a STAMPEDE forum. Stock XL5 is 90t my friend. Yeah you can fill the void with tape, etc etc. But for a couple of bucks why not. I didnt TELL HIM TO UPGRADE IT. He was asking if it fit with stock gearing, there's a difference. Plus he might be looking at a different color other than black.

BTW thanks Toyboarder & LooT for backing me up!!!

Shoot man if the glove fits wear it. LOL That's good to know though. I didnt know they made any changes to the RPM Gear Covers. For me it really doesnt matter anyways I run a smaller spur.

I wonder if the old Stampede slipper (the one with the red pegs) caused the spur to be further away from the tranny case than the revo slipper. That might be what RPM is basing their info on, that it doesn't fit a 90t spur on the old slipper.

Its an older one with the yellow esc, although I bought it new off the shop floor December last year. Not too happy about that.

It's since been upgraded to VXL tranny for the Reedy 13T brushed I put in it.

Im not a big fan of duck taping anything on My truck. Its not reliable, and ugly lookin. Plus it will come of with dirt and moisture, than possible go in between the spur and the pinion gear and cause havoc. Why not spend the 8 dollars and do it properly....

Just to throw a wrench in to things, go 32p gears and you won't have to run a cover anyways! LOL.
