Question ERBE won't start after snow run

    Hello everybody,

Went outside for a snow run (-12 centigrades), and after some running and bashing decided to switch from almost empty 4s to fully loaded 6s, car was full of snow, so i switched of the car placed batteries turned on, and nothing happened.

ESC appears not to answer. No reaction at all. checked with 3 different sets of batteries.

Really need your advices to know what to do next.

Thank you very much in advance.

Sounds like it is time for a new esc.

    They are not waterproof.

First thing I would do is eliminate the on off switch. I had the same issue and that is what fixed mine. It won't void the warranty removing the switch.

    ^^^That ^^^

And if the on / off switch is not the problem you fried your ESC ...

If you don't want to open the ESC to properly waterproof it with "Liquid Tape" or with "Plasti Dip" you can always use an Outerwears' shroud to protect your ESC from snow / mud / water ...

    Are the outerwears any good?
Will it make the motor and esc overheat?

If it is cold enough for snow temps will prob be ok. That is another topic all together (gearing).
Better to have a little heat than a wet ESC..
Did you read this little paper..

    Guys, thanks for your help,
    Appreciate a lot.

Unfortunately even after drying and WD40 it didn't start.
I'll see today with one electrician if he can figure out something otherwise it will be time for new ESC.

Can you please advise nice way to waterproof ESC for usual weather condition, cause I'm not only running in winter.

P.S. To be honest i was so impatient to drive this beast that I did not bother to much with papers

Receiver box was sealed nicely and properly,
Checked if it's not a switch issue, and unfortunately it's not ((

It was a big deal for me to get this truck,

Purchasing the Traxxas from US to other countries is a bloody big adventure to be honest, and now getting parts to the city there I live for next 5 months will be even more complicated (((

Thaks for assistance guys, you are really nice and helpful !

I do admire the work you did with your cars, now I will certainly read all material you posted,
I opened the box of ESC, reason is I'm in Russia far east which is some kind of remote location. (no road to this place exists, only boat or plane) so receiving or sending is pretty difficult. So i'm quite sure Castle creations will not be able to resolve this issue for me ((

However I will very probably order ESC tomorrow if i have no solution from electrician guy, at least he will confirm death of ESC which will trigger purchase of the new one, and if I'm luck i'll get it with in 2 months )).

PS i had a lot of issues finding on internet spare parts or hop-ups for 1/10 E-revo, but plenty of parts for 1/16 are available, how do you manage to find proper parts?

No problem man, here's another one I shot after a bashing session in a sand pit...

And here's what I had put the ERBE through to get it as muddy as it was...

    Thanks,
Done already, outerwears shroud purchased. , bought as well plenty of spare parts there, just in a case.

Guys you could be considering creating of database or some kind of FAQ about E-Revo.
Would be really handy, cause when i see post from 87 GN and imagine that he has to write all this info for every n00b like me.... pfff what kindness and patience...

PS will start new interesting topic soon, hope to see you there.))

How much different is Outerwearz than a generic Shower Cap? I, like Slav, couldn't wait till the snow melted. I watched a bunch of waterproofing videos, then saw a guy running with a showercap on ice and made a run to Walmart. The time water got near my ERBE was mild spatters when blowing off the snow. But by then the batteries were disconnected, so nothing would get damaged. Then a thorough coating of WD40 on all the metal bits and I have not had any issues. Besides the smell anyway. Anyway, I am curious how much different the Outerwearz is.

The Outerwear cover is conformed for a snug fit, stitched on Velcro strips to stick to the chassis & battery doors, hole cut & lined for the antenatal.

Diffrent material... the Outerwears shroud lets more air through than a generic shower cap.

Let's put it this way: Over professional and super experienced guy who did not posted in my topick and did not contributed to solution is pretty useless for me, maybe a bit less high skilled guy who did is important for me. I hope that message is quite clear ))
