    Project short course mode.

Ah the wonders of owning a versatile traxxas truck. My buddies and i have been bashing at a local indoor short course track. I tried out my new sc street fighters just for that sc look and ran it around the track on 3s. They stuck to the clay like glue i was pleasantly surprised. so i lowered the truck, began tuning the suspension, grabbed a ford sc body, lowered it. and behold a sc truck was born.

Many of you have seen my truck in mt mode. And well with a switch of the tires and body this is my new sc truck to play with.

    what do you guys think?

How do you like the protrac feel? Are those the wheels for protrac?

yup those are the wheels that came with my protrac kit. I'm also running the wider hex's front and rear still. I havent tested the truck with the new body, but its very stable and nimble. Has a very neutral feel which is what i like. I was running it on 3s last time. This sunday i will be using 2s, and i've lowered the truck a bit from where i had it. I'm expecting good results, these tires griped phenomenally for running 18/54 on 3s. They should be golden at the same gearing on 2s.

Ran the truck again today with the new body, i also changed out the diff fluid to 10k front 5k rear. did some electronics layout changes and some other adjustments. All was well until my old orion 2s packs started to struggle with the load from the 2400. The truck was very quick on the track with gobbs of torque even on 2s. so after tearing the truck down 3 times and the motor down once. i determined that my batteries need to be moved on to their final resting place. So i'm waiting for spc 2s hardcase lipos to be in stock so i ordered a ***** 4000 mah 30c/40c burst 2s hard case lipo for 19$. just to get me through a race this friday. I also ordered proline calibers m3 compound on renegade protrac wheels. these street fighters slide to much on clay to be consistent. the truck jumped very well, nice and straight easy to control. i was very pleased. i'll post up some pics tomorrow of the new lay out and, some more pics when the stuff comes in,

Well i shimmed up my suspension, put the stampede bumpers on for a compact look. And ditched the receiver box for more space. What do you guys think? Im not 100% on the smaller bumpers.

    Let me know fellas

This truck is setup for racing, not bashing. wheelie bars are not what i'm looking for. But i'll take a look at rpm bumpers.

well a few updates, i got my new tires in, and i bought traxxas sway bars. I also upgraded my rear diff cup to the hd version and refilled it with 5k fluid. I bought some different shocks to try off ebay, i also purchased some losi springs to mess with. Got some new wheel nuts too. I'm going to run at the track this sunday and i'll post the results.

Well i got serious about this short course thing and built a real racer. Parts i've added/purchased.

    Black ssglcg kit
    Boca green seal bearings
Losi ten scte shocks and spring tuning kit(also ordered aluminum caps and collars for these)
Installed the stock shafts for less weight(they did great in a light weight truck running sc tires on 2s)
Installed a 18t pinion on my 2400 sct motor(was actually going as fast as sc10 4x4' with 3500+kv tekin motors)
bought robinson racing absolute hardened pinions ranging from 18t-23t.
And all of this is in addition to my other upgrades.

    Now on to the pics

Future plans include a new body and some racing. Feel free to ask any questions.

Very nice friend Im excited for you! Now that I've had the lcg experience, a standard sl4sh is hard ti see as anything other than a solid basher. That's not a knock on the traxxas product because it is far more capable of handling the yard than any other brand. But, after tuning and tweaking, then racing a lcg slash, I see your ssc and rce as my best choice! Your truck looks great So low and capable! Did you get much time in yet? Lil around the house racing in the street ir yard? I've been putting my rce through some extremes lately and sense I added the alloy arms, each trip out has gotten more and more aggressive with the goal of bending them in a bash environment. Seems that they can take mire than you would even bet a buck on and continue to surprise me. My TeamRCE chassis has held up very well, absolutely no failure in any aspect but I do know what the composite counter parts (traxxas chassis and rpm arms) would handle, and again, it too has thoroughly blown my mind in its bash-ability. Will this truck be strictly race or will it see some action in the neighborhood? Im am very interested in seeing someones reports of abuse and all out whoopin on one of these. I would be worried of the bottom plate bending if it was in my lineup but hey, I had many doubts about my rce rig too. Ill be in touch and good luck.
Ps, I looked up the trip from my door to your raceway, 4 hours, maybe I'll get an itch for a weekend away soon. My lady was tickled about being that close to Niagara, worth the extra couple hours before returning to Ma. for sure lol. Syracuse is one of many spots I haven't been in upstate but maybe I'll book a trip before summers end so we can line um up on your home track. Have a blast and can't wait to here how much its improved you'd race!
Check out my vids in the rce arms thread and youtube, the continued abuse it takes is gonna surprise you!

With all the e,trap parts you have left over, you could rebuilt your monster truck and have two trucks!

I run the protrac arms, they took quite the abuse at the track yesterday, as well as the chassis. That track really isnt my home track but its indoors so i've been using it to tune my truck. They made a brutal track change this last week by reversing one half of the track and creating a over under section. The cross over jump has allot of pop and they havent finished the landing quite yet heres a pic

My chassis got a few small scratches from the ply wood but all is well, i must of over shot that cross over 20 times before i got it right and my chassis is still straight and true. The truck runs extremely smooth and true the balance is incredible. Now i'm going to have to buy a new basher Since this truck i will be running at two points series this summer one at crc raceway in rome, ny and one at outback raceway in cortland, ny. I'm not sure if i can make every race but i'm going to try. Thanks for the compliments guys.

Well its been almost a month of indoor and out door track use and the truck is holding up well, the stock drive shafts are still going strong. I will be upgrading to the 3800 castle motor here soon. And i did manage to have a proline front arm pull off the hinge pin. The lunsford pin is still nice a straight.
