Cool How come I don't see any wheelie bars on these things?

So I'm pulling the trigger on a Summit within the next few days - beit tomorrow or a week - and I'm curious about wheelie bars.

I just watched a video of a Summit in a tug of war without a wheelie bar and so it kept flipping over when the opponent got some traction. If it had a WHEELIE bar it'd be no problem draggin' the other guy around.

I have a mini e-revo right now and I'm curious how different the rears of these cars are and how much of the standard revo gear fits on these summits. Obviously I would have to get the larger revo stuff to fit on the larger summits (not asking if I can swap my 1:16 stuff over, I know that won't work of course.)

I'm thinking of things like, spoiler, tie rods, bumpers front/back etc...

    Thanks! =)

unless you use either crazy stiff rear shocks or a Mamba Monster on more than 4s then really no worries from my experience

Awesome, I've seen that these guys really like to hunker down under load/acceleration but I didn't realize wheelies are hard to come by.

Either way, lets say I DID end up getting some crazy 6s system, are there wheelie bars? (I don't plan on it, but I do fancy the bars for when I fall backwards from a steep climb)

Honestly, if you are popping wheelies really easy; the slipper is too tight and you are going to break something.

The Summit is a totally different RC than anything else out there...
it is made to no other specification other than its own.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Okay, I was under the idea that it was basically an E-Revo with different arms, wheels, and a locking tranny/diff setup. Didn't realize anything else was different.

The transmission does not lock up, the differentials do.

I figured, but the future reader of this thread might go "huh? I did not know it had a locking transmission?!!"
    lol

Yeah if it did it would be totally different than the lousy non-locking ones everyone has!

    ....... hahaha!

I hate not being tired but having to wake up in the morning so I can call my lhs and ask if THEY have a summit I can just go pick up! Hurry up TOMORROW and get here already.

Just make sure it has the LVD... the TQi and an advertisement for the LVD will be on the box.

It is not that bad without it... you would just have to get a LVA to run LiPo.

Thanks, I'll have to call that hobby store that put one away for me to make sure, he said "yeah it's the new one, the one with that fancy new remote in it!" so there's a significantly good chance it's the right one. My closer shop will get a call first thing in the morning. They're one of those, "yeah.. $600! Oh you've heard of less? How much exactly... oohh yeah thats right that's actually what we're selling ours for, $525! Sorry I was uh.. trying to RIP YOU OFF" hahah but we'll see.

I heard that LVA wasn't advertised, not even in the manual!? Either way, I have my VXL3S I'm pretty sure it's more than capable enough to run the 775 if I get a non-lvc esc!

Random question, does the TQi have the iphone telemetry thing, or is that an entirely different thing?

It can have telemetry... if you buy all the needed (not included) equipment.

The Summit is based on the E-Revo platform. I have an E-Revo and my son has the Summit. Many of the parts interchange.

Ahhh, well I'm not too concerned with the telemetry anyway, I mean it would be NICE and all, but I plan on swapping out to a castle combo so I can turn on CRAWL BRAKE 250% drag brake. Have it setup to really crawl. I figure the Traxxas setup allows it to roll back as soon as you're off the gas/reverse. I'll mess around with it for a bit before I upgrade of course, not going to do one of those, "BOUGHT MY NEW CAR and BEFORE I KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT I BOUGHT $500 WORTH OF "upgrades" FOR IT!!!"

    .... hahah

How about RPM gear for this car? Are there many people running rpm arms, I mean at a much slower pace I don't see the need - outside of -20°c weather of course.

If it comes with a TQi remote, it also has the LVD-equipped EVX-2.
Like other Traxxas models with new equipment, some of the latest instructions are covered in an addendum, not in the main manual.
I wouldn't run a VXL-3S in a truck this big with this motor. A Summit needs 14 cells or 4S to run enjoyably. The smaller ESC is not capable of that.
With the Summit you may want to "think hard" not "think fast." Still it is your truck so do whatever YOU want with it.
Regarding upgrades, it's not unusual for a group of Summiteers to spend 2, 3, or 4 hours on a drive and have nothing break. This is not because we take it easy but because when driven how they were (generally) intended and with the (powerful enough) motor system, they break very little. Example: a couple weeks ago we had three Summits freestyling in the woods for three hours. Stripped one spur gear. That's $3 for 9 hours of driving on some very nasty terrain. It's hard to beat that or find a reason that it HAS to be upgraded. My skid plates and arms are more likely to wear thru from running on rocks than to snap, lol.

I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

The gentleman at the store said, "it has that fancy new remote in it" before I could even ask about anything, I'm assuming that means it has the TQi? I've just learned you need to buy the docking station separate - I assume the sensors come with it? Who knos, however if the person said, "and it comes with the fancy new remote" that's what it is, TQi, there wasn't some in-between remote release right? *cheers

Never know what an LHS employee or owner thinks is new and fancy, even the good ones. Either way, you'll know it when you see it, right?
So far as I know, the docking base does not include any sensors. This is an a la carte thing.

I have a 1/10 revo wheelie bar on mine! I have dual desalt 14.4 and with the suspension in any setting it needs them. My gearing is pretty tall too. It's just what you want to do with it. I reconfigure mine to go fast or craw depending on who in going out with.

After i went BL, I never do them on purpose. With a 775, maybe. I consider myself very hard on my Summit but i think wheelies are a no-no. If I 12 oclock a wheelie, the bumper or somethin catches the dirt and then it does like 4 front flips, so those are a no-no. If i had a wheelie bar, It would be set very low to keep me from rolling it backwards.

Yeah that's why I would want it too! To prevent falling back. Hahah I haven't even LOOKED at the truck yet, oh man! I have one now but I'm more excited to watch videos of it while the batteries charge than I am to look at it!?
