Smile Which Castle Creations Motor/Esc Setup

My velineon motor on my slash seems to be a bit slow for me. I dont know alot about castle motors and what the kv means. I want my slash to have alot of power and torque also increase in speed using 3s. Im getting a good deal on the SV2 ESC and 5700kv motor for $100 only used once. Will there be much of a difference between the velineon? What setup do you recommend? I want to sell my velineon motor and esc; I want to use that money and buy a castle setup.

I, like many other will recomend the Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro esc with the 2400kv motor. This combo is perfect for the Slash 4x4 and has great torque and Speed and can be geared to the moon

The 1406 based 4600 or 5700 motors are not suitable for these cars

What voltage (number of cells) do you plan to run ?

How fast do you want to go ?

How much money do you want to spend ?

    Cheers

    I'll be running 6s. I want to go atleast 50mph. I could spend till 150, I don't mind if it's slightly used.

You dont need to run 6s for 50 mph

    3s / 4s will be plenty

A Sidewinder ESC (SV2 or SCT) will not help you get there

You will need a better Motor and ESC combo

Something like the Mamba Max Pro / 1415 2400kv motor combo for $200

    Cheers

you don't need 6s to reach 50mph, MMP-2400 will get you there on 3s-4s.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. Will the 2400kv and mmp combo have any heating problems on 6s with slash speed pinion and 54T spur? How fast will it go?

    2400kv motor has a 4s limit

2400kv will go 80 mph if geared 25/50 on 4s

If you want to run 6s you will need to run the Mamba Monster / 1515 2200kv motor combo

    Cheers

And this combo will break every single part on your truck. Using this combo to do 50 mph would be like taping a stick of TNT to your face to get rid of a zit. If you want your slash to do 100mph, this is the combo for you, but be prepared to spend another $600 to strengthen the entire truck to hande the power.

And BTW: Traxxas already sells a slash 4x4 with a similar motor/esc that is built to hande the power, its called an XO-1! LOL

Chris, I'd say your example is a little drastic. If you wanted to run 50 mph all day long in 120 degree weather and not worry about your motor overheating this is the system for you also. At 50 this system would run cool without a heatsink. It would be trouble and worry free. If you get the need for speed you can gear it up.

I jist think the mamba monster with a 2200kv on 6s would destroy the truck. I'm sure the motor/esc combo would be fine though. Isnt that the system in the erbe? Ive seen thise on 6s and they are almost completely uncontrolable. If im thinking of the wrong system then thats my mistake.

The mmm-2200kv works great on 3s-4s more than that it will too much.

What about a mamba max pro with a 1/10 6900kv motor. It can handle 6s. The kv is pretty high, what does that means? What are the pros and cons about this setup?

nope 6900kv is for 2wd vehicles not heavy 4x4 trucks, also is for 3s max if not wrong. If you want to run 6s you need a lower kv motor at least 2200kv or lower.

    What can handle 6s ?

The MMP ESC is rated for 6s, the 6900kv motor is certainly not

The 1410 based 3800 is the smallest of the Castle motors you should be sonsidering using in these cars, the 1406 based motors will simply melt like an ice cream

chris you know our xo-1's share a lot of the same parts as the slash 4x4 including the rear and front diffs, A-arms etc. its safe to say the slash would be fine with the 2200 combo ive owned the erbe and now i just have the xo-1 and slash 4x4 so on 4s the slash would be fine with that combo.
