New Slash, broke 10 minutes in...shock suggestions?

So I picked up a new slash 4x4 and 3c lipo battery yesterday. Driving around the yard it flipped and the bottom piece of the shock that holds the spring up fell off. I finally found it and snapped it back on. A few minutes later I noticed the front riding low again and the piece is gone for good this time.

I noticed it liked to body roll quite a bit as well. So Im wanting to pick up a set of shocks(hopefully a set that wont fall apart like the stock ones) as well as a set of sway bars.

What would you guys suggest? This car will just be driven around the yard and down the driveway...

What places do you recommend ordering from? See a lot of parts on ebay, just curious if they are all genuine...

    Something like these??

All you lost was a 50 cent spring retainer. Just know that you don't have to spend money on new shocks, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Stock shocks are more than acceptable for 95% of people. Stock shocks can share some components with big bores and big bores are smaller shocks than stock. That link you provided was not Traxxas Big Bores which El Sob suggested.

either Big Bores by Traxxas, Losi shocks or what i have proline powerstrokes. The cheapest in price are losi, big bores are about 50, and proline can run about 100.

The shocks in your link are questionable I've never seen anybody use them, but they look great. The motor fan is probably a wast of money, I would get a Traxxas esc fan first, the esc usually gets hotter than the motor.

I would also get the stampede arm guards. I broke some parts on proloine shocks w/o them. No problems sincfe then.

The arm guards are kind of like skid plates for the shocks. So in a crash or when rocks are kicked up at the shocks, they have to go past the arm guards first. You can do a search for them with the slash, there are also some youtube videos on their installation.

I had an issue with losing the spring retainers too. What I did to fix it was add another spacer on top of the spring to give it more tension so they wouldn't come off as easy. It's also a good idea to get the Stampede 4x4 suspension guards like 2Rocky said.

The only thing Traxxas will cover parts-wise is the electronics for 30 days, but sometimes they will honor it past that too. They won't replace anything else that you break on your truck under warranty. Fortunately, almost everything else is pretty cheap to replace.

my friends slash pops retainers every now and then, he has about 8mm preload spacers on the rear, and then he ended up bending a shock shaft, other than that I think he has no complaints on stock shocks. I have big bores and Losi STCE shocks. I like the Losi's best the adjusting collar is nice and the springs are cheap and in stock at LHS. the only problem I had with the big bores, is the spring rate, to soft kept bottoming out coming of jumps and during landings.

If you are going to Hobbytown, you might as well pick up a heatsink with a fan for the motor. The VXL is a good little motor but if it gets too hot the magnet will come loose from the shaft and need replacing. A heatsink with a fan is a worth while investment.

I bought a few pairs of off brand shocks when I got my first slash (venom, integy, ebay aluminum), and they were all junk. Save your money and get one of these:
    No Modding:
    proline powerstroke
big bores traxxas with non prog springs
ultras (stock) with aluminum caps and ti-ni shafts with non prog springs

    Minor modding:
    d8's or vorzas
    sc10 4x4 factory team threaded

Haven't used the losi ten scte shocks but have heard they were good, not sure if a direct fit or not.

I run prolines on 2 of my slashes, d8's on the other. I love the prolines, haven't had any problems and easy to dial in. I just got my sc10 shocks yesterday. Probably won't mount them until I get my trce chassis. They look like they will be great shocks, much larger than I thought they would be.
