Changing tires means new pinion??

Just got my erevo brushless today.

This looks like an awesome truck. Batteries are charging and if there is no rain tomorrow it wil get it's first workout at my local school ground.

My question is regarding changing the tires.

I have some proline big joes for my emaxx. I had to change the 2 pinion gears from the Titan motors to 14 tooth to handle these tires since they are bigger than stock.

If the stock tires don't have the performance I want I was considering putting the big joes on the erevo.

Considering the power of the brushless motor is changing the pinion gears needed in the erevo if I am staying with the stock batteries. The big joes look to be 1/2 inch taller than the stock tires.

I have no desire for lipo warp speed yet....

You're gonna put stress on your driveline with the Big Joes, they're big and they weigh a lot...

But no need to change your pinion, the Mamba 2200 kV is more than able to handle the extra rotating-mass.

What other tires are suggested for general use?

A lot of guys like Proline badlands, Trenchers, and Trencher X's.

I have the X's and really like them.

PS go ahead and get lipo batteries.

The castle motor is not getting anywhere near its potential with the stock batteries.

If you don't want insane speeds, start with 4s (two 2s batteries).

What would be the difference between the big joes and the trencher x...

Approx same size, are they not. Similar weight??

stick with the stock gearing if you are still using the NiMH batts. When you go to lipo then you can gear up...
When you get lipos you will need Castle Link to program the ESC......
