note that the car wont want to idle without the igniter in it. but when the igniter is engaged it seems to drive around semi decent. where is everyone buying glow plugs?

How open is the idle gap?

Turn the HSN 1/8 counter clockwise.

Make sure you are using a "hot" plug. Get an o.s. hot plug. If it runs with the igniter on it and dies when you take it off its a bad plug.

That means that your way too lean. Richen up the hsn a 1/4 turn and retest. Keep doing this until it no longer bogs or dies out. Then richen it another 1/8 turn and you should be good to go

There was a Jato vid there? All I was watching where the turbo LS1's

If you are burning through plugs then you are too lean. You must richen the HSN by turning it counter-clockwise.

If you have it at factory and it's slow or bogging then it's too rich.

I honestly suggest you take it to a hobby shop, and ask them to tune it. Although it may cost a pretty penny, it'll at least give you a starting point.

Did you buy the car new or used? I see that you don't know how much fuel is through it, if you bought it used the engine may be shot. Buying used I always go into it as if the engine is shot (for price) unless I know the person and the history of the truck. If you did buy used and don't know the history, there is a good chance that the engine may be toast (especially if the leak in the carb has been there a while), if the previous owner didn't do a proper break in or have a good tune the engine may be done. When they are on they're last leg, they may have compression at room temp but as they heat up the piston sleeve will lossen up causing a tuning nightmare. If it was me, I would either do the power up and get a new 3.3 along witha carb for the Losi 3.4 or just grab a Dynamite .19, trying to save a dying engine will just frustrate you and probably make you leave this hobby. Also, watch the language, I know you're probably frustrated but you have already been warned by the Mods and you won't get any help if your thread gets shutdown.

You'll just have the exact same problem if you buy a new motor.
    This should help you out.

It could be a bad engine, however, if it is not, switching to OS will not automatically cure the problem.

I see a lot of posting about tuning the HSN,,,, Don't see anything about the LSN.... If the LSN is not set right, the HSN will never be...

Typical symptom of a lean LSN and a rich HSN = smoke trails, boggy performance AND HIGH TEMPS.....

So.... do the Pinch Test on the LSN. By pinching the fuel line 1-2" from the fuel inlet and counting in seconds, it should run for 3-4 seconds then stall.

Less than 3 seconds the LSN is too lean, richen it up 1/16th a turn counter clockwise. Start it up, do a WOT pass and re test.

More than 4 seconds, the LSN is too rich, lean it up turning the LSN 1/16th a turn clockwise, do another WOT pass and retest...

Always tune with no more than 1/2 a tank. For more details clock on this. But you HSN will never be right without tuning the LSN. THEY ARE EXTREMELY DEPENDENT ON EACH OTHER...

You should tune in a specific order as well.
First the HSn as best as you can get it from factory.
    Second the LSN
Third fine tune the HSN for performance
    Forth set your idle.

Details for tuning right here... http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...ul-Tuning-tips.
