I am so sick of putting money in this thing for it to sit in my kitchen.

ok so as calmly as i can i will explain. I boought my truck wrecked and i have sunk a lot of time and energy into this thing. my ez start is junk i push the button it kicks over one time then the gears just spin without the engine kicking over, as soon as i let of the button it kicks one more time i should not have to constantly push the button on off on off for upwards and past ten mins. wth is wrong with this thing now......

I hear you completely man, there are sometimes you just get extremely irritated at these things. I have to drop everything sometimes for months before I can rationally participate in this hobby

It sounds like your one way bearing is in need of cleaning or replacement. Easy fix, just take the easy start plastic back plate off the engine (three hex screws at the base of the engine block) and pull the bearing out. Get a cotton swab and clean it inside and out. Reassemble (make sure the text on the bearing is facing the engine, I believe it says made in Germany) and try starting again. If the same happens, replace it.

    Hope that helps you

I will try that before i go to my brothers this weekend, part of the reason it is so irritating is that i wanna take it with me to show my nephews i think they would really get a kick outta this thing and its so disappointing that i cant get it running i want so badley to bring it down so they can get a kick out of it..... ill try it i hope that it just needs cleaned... I wont be going to the hobby shop before i go to my bros.

Remove the one way bearing, the one on the engine shaft inside the EZ starter, leave it in alcohol for a few hours, flip it, leave it again for a few hours and install it again. Do not use any type of oil on it, just install it, with the text on the bearing facing the engine.

Traxxas specifically states to use Mobil synthetic motor oil on your one way bearing after cleaning.

Yeah they recommend Mobil 1, but any synthetic motor oil will be fine.... Just make sure you lubricate it though with a synthetic motor oil... These days most automotive motor oils are a synthetic blend.

Whatever you use do so in very small amounts. I 'over-lubricated' a bearing once and I had to go to greater measures to get the power plant to start. And like Nitronaught said, nearly all engine oils are synthetic nowadays, I would get a fairly dense oil and use only a couple of drops.

Most likely the bearing just needs to be cleaned, I hadn't heard about using alcohol, I've always just wiped them clean.
    Hope you get it working.

Have you tried starting the engine?
It's only supposed to turn one way, that's why it's called a one way bearing.
Put it back on and try to start it. Make sure you put it on with the right side down though.

How did you clean the bearing? It's starting to sound like you might need a new one man
As long as you didn't put too much oil on the OWB it should work after you cleaned it, unless it's just worn out.
    How old is the truck?

Well a wreck wouldn't really affect the OWB. What and how much of it did you put on the bearing for lubrication?
I've had a bearing last for three years until it finally quit, sometimes I think these things try to make us pull our hair out.

Your quickest option to get it going is a new OWB & starer shaft.

Hmm, I don't know, I wouldn't think so because I just recently purchased a new 3.3 and the OWB looked identical to the my old bearing that is three years old. But that's just outward appearances I guess.

Alright, yeah sounds like a plan. You might even want to re-clean it while waiting for the battery to charge. Just this time to put any oil on it. Sometimes the things can be picky and oil won't help at all.

I found at amain it says #5211R replaced 5211. as the upgraded unit, if it looks the same then they might have done some improvement on the inside of them to stop slipping so much.

The problem with trying for ten minutes when the roller clutch is slipping is that you wear out the starter shaft as well. If you replace the roller clutch I suggest replacing the starter shaft too. http://traxxas.com/sites/default/fil...T%20Roller.pdf

Are you using the blue wire for the glo plug? Invest in a glo starter and make sure the glo plug is good. Fresh fuel, clean air filter and new glo plug makes for a real happy truck and will save from a lot of temper tantrums Also make sure it's not flooded with fuel. Mine did the same thing for awhile and it kept flooding. Worked itself out eventually by leaning the hsn

No go as in it didn't start or as in the OWB is still not catching to turn the engine over?

For glow plugs keep 3~4 new in the package on hand,at least that's what I do.

Been there done that. A bad starter shaft cost me 1/2 a dozen OWB in about a month..... years ago in my noob days.

Now that it's reliably turning the engine over charge up the EZ battery put a new(out of the package) plug into it & reset your HSN & LSN and go from there.
