Since they are foam, I highly doubt they will be able to create enough friction to do any damage.

I have closed cell firm foam rubber wrapped around all wires entering the box.

Jimmie, what's the dimensions of that Rx box?

I LOVE Dollar Hobbyz... I was looking for a new set of boots for the pillow balls and ended up with fully loaded knuckles for the same price! They include all bearings, pillow balls, boots, boot retainers, caps, cap plug, and the knuckle!

Quite similar... except the bag has nifty labels with codes and part numbers now. I just hope all the fancy stuff doesn't drive up prices!

The knuckles were actually off from a Slayer Pro... same part number as a Summit.

    nice .....

just a fyi when ordering off of daller hobbyz.
if you are ordering a summit chassis, a arm 's,bulk heads and skid plates in one order.it will not go throught for some reason.comes up with error code 10413....so what you need to do is pay for the skid plates separaitly and inform dollar hobbyz about it.

now not to say it will happen to you but thats what i had to deal with for the last week.

Giving this a go... but I have my doubts it will work well:

I used 20mm clear shrink tubing.

Jimmie are those cut to a pre length? If not cut it a little longer or try overlapping two in the center to get a little extra length and that should help. I am experimenting with one put around the pillow balls.

Wow! when you do finally do it you do it good LOL. So far (knock of wood) seems I have my slipper set just right and nothing in the "Drivetrain" has broke, how I managed that when I did break the bulkhead is beyond me. But with the new Hot Racing slipper ( http://www.hobbyetc.com/item.cgi?par...wacNNo57PhciyA } not to sure now, very touchy.

It's an original part and I have lots due to getting two with every inner gear set purchase so at least I didn't have to purchase anything to fix it. From the use... or is it abuse?... it has gotten I'm not complaining, that's for sure!

    Completely Re-vamped Rx Box

The glitching was getting to me... this meant I needed one of two things; a bigger BEC or a bigger capacitor... either of which meant a new and improved Rx box.

    So... I did it all:

Went aluminum this time... shortened the box up to 94.5mm.

The single bolt for the CC BEC on the side, the shorter antenna on top, and the roof light power port.

Main servo wire entrance and the plug port.

Wire entrance for the ESC and rear LED's.

The insides... believe it or not there is a TON more room in there when compared to the last Rx box.

All the wires are protected from the aluminum by running them through grommets. Once I get a few runs on this set-up and make sure all the bugs are worked out I will take it all apart and RTV the seams as I reassemble. This will make the Rx box water resistant once again.

The BEC is set for 6.1 volts. If it has heat issues with being in an enclosed box I will take the shrink off from it and smother it in thermal transfer paste and re-shrink it and smother that in thermal paste and then reinstall it. That will make the entire Rx box its own heat sink.

The cap is soldered direct to the Rx. The first few power-ups were extremely glitchy... but now the lights don't even dim even when the BB 35A is completely stalled out.

Ground away more of the chassis ridge to make a flat surface.

Drilled holes all the way through the battery compartment for the bolts that hold the Rx box in place... makes it easier to reattach when the tools are straight on with the fastener.

    Problem solved!

As soon as the rest of the parts come in I will post the re-wire of the roof lights. The rear post contacts were getting to be a pain to keep in place and get the body clips on. Every time I had to reattach them to the shell the glue layer got thicker... making the rear body clips a real chore.

The only thing this Rx box is lacking over the last one is an on/off switch. I found myself forgetting to unplug the BEC battery after testing before leaving to go run it or forgetting to unplug after the run for the drive back home.... now it has 1 less thing to go wrong.

I also noticed during testing when I had the BEC battery mount off how much flex the chassis has around the steering servos... it freaked me out!! But once the battery mount (the hoop of 1/4" aluminum above the servos) was re-installed... the flex was gone.

Nice job and am really interested in how the aluminum case works as far as a heat sink for the BEC as well as all the other electronics. Wonder if the BEC will truly be cooler.

I thought of a real small fan on mine if heat becomes a problem.

Real nice work, and can't wait till you have a real work shop and what you will be able to turn out then.

I had some with a 3 amp BEC, but now I am running a CCBEC and do not have any issues.

I also run a capacitor... not sure if it is needed or not, I just installed because I had one and they make life a little easier for the 6v power system.

Dimming LED's is due to amp draw... the servo is pulling more than the BEC can handle.

Increasing the voltage will not increase the amperage - it may reduce it! - and it is amperage that is more likely the problem.

A 10-Amp CCBEC cures many ills.

Edit: So does an efficient QUALITY servo. The BB is not one of those...IMO.

The BEC provides 7amp at 7.4v. shouldn't it be enough?

    I agree... hind-sight is always 20/20.
If I were to do it over again I would not get them.

I am not saying the Solar 772 is a high quality servo, but what I do know is I have 0 power issues with it and it has plenty of power to turn even Trencher X's on rough cement; for a fraction of the cost.

Just to be clear are you running 7.4 v to the Rx?
If so your dimming issue could be a few things.
These rx's are not really meant to have to much more than 6v put to them. The micro servos are not rated for that kind of voltage either.

I think that sounds like a yes that you were using 7.4v while the flickering was going on?

I would try a cap aka glitch buster or external BEC.

Jimmie... PM me a mailing address to send you this if you dont have one on its way already... I could switch it for a dual aluminum arm if that works better for you.
