Which Sensored Castle System works well with 4x4 SCT?

Which Sensored Castle System works with Slash 4x4?

I tried the the non-sensored system recently, and I didn' like the feel of it. Which sensored Castle system works well for the 4x4 SCT?

Castle do not make sensored motors

You will need to look elsewhere

the mamba max pro esc works well with sensored motors. take a look at the novak ballistic 550 series motors.

Do you run it on 3s or 2s? i had the ballistic 550 5.5 on 2s and it was less than impressive, i was thinking of trying the new high torque ones if i get sick of the cogging

I run it on 3s! It has plenty of power and speed! I have ran it on 4s but it gets more warm than I am comfortable with.

I keep a heatsink with a fan on it so the motor sticker is scratched. It is a strong little motor. Has low end like a crawler and racers speed. All the while being very smooth

    I do have a Novak Ballistic 10.5 (550) can. I'm about to get a Novak 6.5 also.
The Novak ESC went up in smoke (literally) yesterday (possible warranty)

    I run 2s & 3s

So the Mamba Max Pro has inputs for the Novak motor sensor? (it looks like it does in the picture)
If it does, I'll keep that in mind.

    Thanks guys!

I dont understand why people run sensored motors with sensorless esc's. Yea, it works. But its like putting full coverage insurance on a plymouth k car. You can, but why? Why not run a sensored esc like a tekin rx8?

Whats not to understand the mamba max pro is fully capable of running sensored motors in sensored mode.

Chris, if you look at my pic you will see a wire that goes from the esc that is close to the drive shaft. It goes to the front of the motor. That is the sensor wire. The MMP is designed to run sensored motors. It does it quite well. It can be programed to use the sensors to do the low speed work and not use it at higher rpm's to lower running temps. It works as well if not better than the Tekin or Novak esc's.

I completely apologize. I was under the impression that castle didnt make a sensored esc. I stand corrected. You say it only uses the sensor at low rpm, then turns it off to lower temps? Sounds good.

El sob, which novak ballistic do you have? 4.5,5.0 or 5.5?

No need to apologize! The MMM doesn't support sensored motors. We are here to help and learn. I have the SC 5.5! Great little motor

    I ended up with:
Tekin RX8 ESC (mostly because it is the current rage with my local buddies, and one of them had an extra one I was able to buy).
It is nice and smooth, though pricey (~$200). It's proprietary software package, which is a couple of wires with a blinky light, and a free software download is also pricey (~$45)
It also requires its leads to be soldered on.
I became tired of my stuff failing, and this one appears to have a very low failure rate, and runs cool because it is oversized.

I wanted a sensored motor, and I didn't want to pay the ~$150 premium for a single Tekin motor, so I got these:
    Tenshock Sensored Motor - SC411 4600kv 4 Pole ~$90
    http://builtrc.com/tenshock_sc411_4600_sensored.aspx

    Tenshock Sensored Motor - SC411 5200kv 4 Pole ~$90
    http://builtrc.com/tenshock_sc411_5200_sensored.aspx

I've been testing the 4600 on 3s LiPo's, and it needs serious heatsink & fans to make it survive. It may be do-able, but I wouldn't recommend this motor on 3s batteries on the weight of a 4x4 SC truck.
Sidenote: This motor draws 200amps, do not use it with the Traxxas VXL ESC.
Anyway, I plan to eventually switch to all 2s batteries, and I'll test both these Tenshock's on 2s soon.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Oops, typo on my part.
    The 4600 is rated 180amps
I got it confused with the other toy> Tenshock 5200 rated 200amps

5200 Testing on 2s coming soon... evil laugh...
