Exclamation My E Revo is down for the count...

I bought a new E Revo brushless on friday. Rand it yesterday on the stock Nimh batteries, worked fine... lil slow but it worked. Today I charged up my 7.4v 2s 20c LiPo batteries, when I plugged them in, turned on the radio, then the ESC, the 3 lights on the ESC come on, and just keep flashing. Steering and throttle both dont work. One of the steering servos also seems to get very hot.

Now I did plug in the Castle link, so it does link up fine.
Would love to call traxxas, but I dont live in the US, so no toll free number for us Canadians.

    Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

with the programmer i would make sure LiPo mode is on, that all your servos are plugged in correctly, and if one is heating up, replace it. did you try the Nimh batteries again?

thats kinda what i was thinking. it should be ok for street use and light bashing with one traxxas servo. go try the Lipos and rip it!

Thanks. I did just that. Took it out to a huge parking lot for speed tests. Top speed for the day was 52km/h. Not bad at all for stock gears on 4s (two 2s 7.4v 4000mah 20c Lipo)

Love this thing. Was worth every penny.

A set of 4000mAh 20C LiPo batteries only gives out 80 amps... a bit too low for the Mamba Monster ESC ...

So, will that harm the ESC or Motor? I am planning on buying 2 new Lipo's and a second Lipo charger. If I stick with Traxxas, I'm going to buy the 2s 5800mah 25c Lipos but I am considering all options.

watch you battery temps, the MMM will over work the batts, & easy on the brakes with ripple current & keep the stock grearing..

next set of batts look at 5000 mAh & 30C (150 amps) or 40C (200 amps)..

    ( mah x c rating / 1000 = amps),

    The
more amps the better / minimun of 120 amps.

The ESC will only draw the amount of amps it needs.

Higher the mAh the longer the runtime.
For brushless systems 8000 mAh about 45 min & a 5000 mAh about 30 min.
Times are longer for brushed systems.

Batts in series double the voltage:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 4s 20c 5000mah

Batts in parallel double the mah capacity:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 2s 20c 10,000mah.

A temp gun is kind of a must have.....

Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
    Everything warm just right..

Motor ~ 180/190*F maximum, ideally 140/160*F, temps can be 10* higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F
    Lipo's ~ 140*F max, ideally 100/120*F
Would you go flip my truck back over??

Well this day has been filled with not so good news, First my servo fries, still waiting to hear back from Traxxas Support on replacing it, and now the realization that my current lipo's arent the greatest for the truck.

I do have a temp gun for sure. comes in handy.

Well, looks like I will be shopping for new batteries. I did read the other thread about batteries and chargers as well. All excellent info.

So, If I buy Traxxas Lipos, I will be safe with:

    5800mah x 25c / 1000 = 145amps Cost $154 for 2 shipped.
    OR
    7600mah x 25c / 1000 = 190amps Cost $186 for 2 shipped.

    yep..............

    edit..

    This is a good start..
Just don't buy no name Ebay batts...

Besure to check sizing before you buy any batteries...

In time some batteries will become discontinued...

No particular order as to good, better, or best....

    2S

With larger Lipo battery wires, you might need to - enlarge the exit hole on battery doors....
or run wires out the vents..
