Installed this little green 390 gem I got in the mail today!

Note: plumbers tape is only there to cover the evil name of this servo.

I got a Mini GPS from "the company that shall not be named". It's pretty cool, it plugs into the receiver Batt channel and it's smaller than a pack of gum. Works great too!

Compare it with the garvin to see how accurate it is.

Good idea. The only way they could be different is in scan rate, because distance is distance and time is time. period.

Ran the new mini gps and the Garmin on the same run. On short runs, they have a difference of about 2 miles an hour. Anything more than 5 seconds sustained max throttle gets them to withing .1 mph

Cool stuff, I'd like one of those too! What's more it can be a nice little camping/ hiking accessory. very small and gives coordinates.

Glad to hear the speed / location calculations are accurate.

    Did quite a lot today.
Burnt up a 390 while testing my new BlueArrow micro gyro.
I guess i cranked up the gain too much during testing and overworked the servo. It gave up after less then ten minutes runtime. No steering and an eery flickering from the LED on my uBEC. Worked quite good before it failed.

Lukily i had a spare Bluebird 390DMH, put the gears and electronics from that servo in the silver casing of my now burned 390 and waterproofed it. I noticed that, while the little pcb in both servos have the same layout, the soldered electronics parts are not. The main controllers are exactly the same, but some of the smaller ones differ. Besides the colors and markings on the housing all other parts are really the same. The old 390 has a better bild quality than the new Bluebird390..

Got some nice longer 1/10 3Racing springs for my YeahRacing shocks. Rated 4.25, 4.5 and 4.75 x21mm. I guess only the 4.25 might work, the other will be too stiff.

I got them from 3racing-parts.com. That is there Hongkong reseller. Part-no ist SAK-49/21425 for the rate 4.25. SAK-49/21xxx for the other rates, going from 4.25 up to 6.00 in 0.25 increments. If you find a shop thats sells 3Racing/Sakura Zero parts you might be able to get them in the US.

I feel only 4.25 rate might be useable for the MERV, the others will be too hard. They are harder as the stiffest (gold) YeahRacing springs. But longer, so you dont need to cranc up the preload as much as with the shorter YR springs.
I tested them today in the rear with 120WT and 3 hole pistons and they worked better than i expected. Will test with 2 hole piston and harder oil, like 3000 or 5000WT too.

What actually qualifies as a merv? The 1/16 scalers?

If thats the case, then I disassembled the driveline to find apparently all the transfer case bearings are ruined and there was not a single speck of grease or oil in it, either. Totally dry gearset..

i got the black body merv, with TQi controller, an extra series 1 traxxas battery, parallel adapter and the traxxas quick charger. That was all the money I had to spend for now. Basically, and this is how i explained it to the wife ... it was all free cuz i sold a bunch of stuff on ebay and used the $$ to buy this instead .... so i really just traded some of my old toys for a new one.

i bought it all from towerhobbies cuz i had a $50 off coupon, so its all brand spankin new.

its fast as ****, not as hard to control as i thought it would be .... nearly killed the dog with it yesterday cuz he loves to chase it around the yard and after 2 batteries in parallel he layed on the floor huffing and puffing for almost 90 minutes before he was ok to move again.

my upgrade list includes ... but non of this is done yet ....
    tbone full skid plate/bumper set
    aluminum shocks
    RPM arms
    aluminum transmission case
    motor heat sink
prolly wheels and tires cuz they'll wear out eventually
and i wanna try a 1/10 scale wing cuz i think it will look sweet with the wing going out over/behind the wheels

well, took about 6 hours but i'm rebuilt on a new chassis, front bulk head and steering system. figuring out the steering took a while cuz the new set of parts had more than i took apart, apparently i lost some in the crash.

which front chassis brace is the best one? i will also be getting the t-bone full skid plate bumper set cuz i dont plan on rebuilding the front end again any time soon.
