Speed hawgs with those rims are my favorite tires combo to run the merv
Great tires with a lot of fun and lots of stable feeling with those

Going to try out a double wheelie bar setup. First on flexes to meet the second one slowly .going to hit the flats and try it out![]()
HMMM you also will add more weight on the rear with this

50togo...what made you put your mmp on the receiver side?
i wanted some breathing room for the fan with the body on receiver side has more room.
went for a short speed run(transmitter was left on and batteries were low)
on 2 cell batteries with dirt hawgs -only 27/45 gearing gps showed 48.8 mph and had some left!with new batteries i will try a longer run but thats pretty good .speed calculator shows 43.6 with 3.6 tires but even taped these still balloon at speed--- if it could pull my 37/45 gearing!!!
got my parts in today for my merv diff shimming and replacement of the ring+pinion plus some 50K diff oil as well.![]()
DEU 8:18 ESV
got all my new parts in and installed (listed on pg 24) not only does it look sweet, handles really really good now. ill post upgrade pics in the next couple days. now i just gotta keep the heat down. offf to find a fan
Installed a Hitec HS85MG servo and installed a 23t pinion and i still get in the 170 range with my lipo not hitting LVD.
I need to find a fan and a heatsink for the velineon stuff. MMP soon to come hopefully

Long time no updates from me. Got lots of small updates and parts recently. Forget to take pics of every bit, so i can only post a few shots from the result in the end..
To be fair, i did not do all upgrades at the same time, more over the last couple of days. So here it goes:
First shocks: I got shock socks from a guy in australia (rcshocksocks.net) and new shock internal parts for my YeahRacing bigbores. I found out most of the Tamiya and 3Racing parts for 1/10 shocks fit nicely into the YR shocks. So I replaced the worn stock nylon parts with 3Racing delrin liners and spacers and Tamiya o-rings. Colour me not conviced by the Tamiya TiNi-shafts i tried over the last months with the YR shocks. They show serious wear, might try 3R TiNi shafts next and hope the the new shocksocks do a good job. I filled 100WT with silver/soft springs in the front and new 120K oil + medium/blue springs in the back.
Finally taped and glued my spare DirtHawgs to my RPM Revolvers, filled with the blue ProLine closed cell inserts. Had the parts laying around for more than a month, but always hated tire glueing, although i seem to getting better at it with every pair.
Got a new motor. Snatched a barely used Velineon 380 VXL off eBay. This motor does not run any faster then my one year old VXL - but about 20°C cooler!! Geared up three teeth after i noticed that.Running 50/26 on DirtHawgs or buggy Calibers with 2S only hitting ~60C/140F after 4400mAh in the last few runs. Pretty pleased with that.
I can report the Integy gear cover part-no T3418, i posted a few pages back about, does a poor job at keeping the dirt out of the spur/pinion. I trashed two more spurs and a pinion with grains of sand that the Integy cover failed to keep out. The capabilities as heatsink are not too bat though.
Also thrashed one more small outer axel bearings in the rear, luckily i noticed this early enough, not like last time where i destroyed an gpm alloy knuckle with a broken bearing. I replaced the bearing with a ceramics/steel hybrid bearing, lets see how long that holds against the force of the RPM wide wheels..
Did a first overhaul of my alloy bulkhead. From the crud on the outdrives i had known that the front diff must be nearly emtpy now..
Cleaned, refilled with 30K, fresh Avid Revolution bearings, new pivotballs and fresh CVD out-put cups. The old ones were worn out. Noticed i'll need no CVD stub axels too, the pinholes in my current axels have doubled in size by now.. The diff itself looked pretty pristine, thanks to Shimmie Neutrons guide and the alloy bulkhead i guess.
Totally re-did my electronics. I replaced worn connectors on both of my ESCs and my paralell harness. Soldered a BEC-bypass to my ESCs and rewired the fans. Because I got a small 6V/3A UBEC and two YeahRacing Tornado Hi-Speed fans. One 25x25 to replace the fan on my ESC and a 30x30 for a new active motor cooler i want to test.
I now power the RX, the servo and both fans from the UBEC and the ESC can fully concentrate on feeding the motor.
I re-routed my battery and motor wiring from a front-back config to a back-middle config.
I did this to make room in the front for a gyro and maybe a GPS device (Garmin Forerunner 101). You can see my old layout here for comparision.
So far i have only tested my 60A-SL ESC with this setup and being pretty pleased. Definitely get more out of my lipos with this config. The HK-100A will be next to test.
Actual wiring is still a good bit to messy for my taste, thes JST connectors take too much room and the UBEC should be mounted more secure. Might refine i further after some more test runs.
Sorry way more text then initially intended and to few pics.

nice stuff CMD-J and always superb to see your build stuff & how to
BTW the wires are always a prob i think on the little one and the only thing to prevent it is to make them as short as poss
BUT
when the body is on there they dont see them anymore
its better that the merv handles great and drives nice speed then being a shelf queen with a lot of bling and whoooo
<< respect all the way >>
let us know when you do more mods and share it with us

Did the local authorities ticket you for stealing beach sand?

@Mossie Thanx and I like the naked rear look and since I don't drag race or do speed runs where a wing may help a little it doesn't serve much of a purpose for my bashing needs lol
@Chilidillo nope maybe of I were in Afghanistan customs are pretty intense when it comes to dirt coming back into America lol!

@army - I know what you mean about a lot of dirt hiding in Afghanistan

Yesterday lowered it a bit. Today Widened it a bit. I have had my toelinks for a while, but never dialed them in. So I set all 8 pivot balls to 1.5 turns past the thread, then adjusted the toe links to make the wheels strait. It handles noticeably better now.

Checked the Tracking number assigned to it, almost here!
Hit the rollcage with some JB weld (last night). Painted it with my son. Put some airline tubing on the 'hotspots' to keep the cage from getting sanded down to nothing. Widened the wheelbase again by cutting out double sided tape hexes and putting them against the stock ones. Worked on the 808 camera; the battery was rattling on the inside, so I opened it and secured the batt. Ditched the mounting plate and went with double sided tape.

Hey cipher, good idea with the tubing - lots of times I run my Merv with just the cage to stay cool (topless is always cool!) I think I'll try it, cuz I have a black rollcage and its getting kind of scruffy! (Yes, I do occasionally turtle it!)

Well, my Mamba Max Pro came today and I'm looking at mounting it sideways in the original esc spot. It sticks out far enough to keep the velcro on that side from hitting the battery door side of the velcro. Any ideas anyone?

I put in a 15t pinion so my little girl can race next week. Then stuck in the 3s put it on the carpet to see if it would do a flip to show her friend and exploded the trans. It never even moved.![]()
Grrr, thunderstorm killed my website.
Was messing with the toe and then all of the sudden, it felt like the tranny was frozen. It was the rear diff. Took it apart and it turns out i screwed the toelink in about 1 mm too deep. It (the screw) pushed some plastic inside the bulk. Trimmed it with an exacto then cleaned everything. Gonna put it back together tomorrow, got the parts air dryin now. It literally went from rolling like butter to grinding in one second.

Yep. First time that happened I didn't know what was up. I backtracked what I did and finally found it
