LOL. I gotta say, Turok, you're the one guy here whose story i read and actually felt some sympathy for the wife. You set your shtuff on fire! ... indeed, you might need RC therapy.

I just try to do as much around the house as I can. I do the floors, the dishes, baths for the kids, etc. My wife and I run a tree nursery together so I see her all day. She complained a little bit last year when I'd go golfing every weekend but I just bring up everything I do and she can't complain too much. So my advice is to help out around the house as much as possible. Then, it's playtime! Also, I tell her it's not my fault she doesn't have hobbies. If she wanted to go do stuff on the weekend I wouldn't complain so I don't understand why she does. That works too.

Glad I'm not the only one under the thumb hehe my girl may be cool with the whole rc thing.. But she controls the money and the PayPal accounts so I get a 50 dollar spending limit a week on parts. Sucks when you see an awesome roller on eBay or something lol and begging gets me nowhere because I swear the only work she knows is "no" haha

Ah, therein lies the rub. While we'd probably all put up with the nagging for our RCs, its another story when someone else has control of the purse strings!! Kinda alters the balance of power.

Like you wouldn't believe, but with a visa and great mates to ship parts to she is none the wiser haha

Having one of those should I buy shouldnt I buy moments. I've been wanting to pick up some lipos and they happen to be in stock. My typical reaction would be to just get them but being in a relationship as I am, I need to consider how my fiancé would feel about me dropping another significant amount of money on this hobby.

Time to sell some more stuff

Yeah, and for those of us new to it, we are in total acquisition mode .... need to build up a fleet before you have anything to sell!

you could do it that way.
once in a long time ago my then fiance looked at me when i stopped at the adult beverage store.
she said 'i don't think i like this' i looked back at her and proceeded to ask her ' you want anything from in here'? never heard another word about it again.
i figured back then if she is going to get mad it's better now than years and before we had anything to pay lawyers to split up.
that was 17 years ago and knock wood many more to come.
now try it at your own risk, lol

but i also posted on how to 'theoreticaly' buy thru pay pal on the down low, so ya gotta do what ya gotta do....lol

p.s. still haven't flown the new/used plane yet, gonna work on it tommorow

When I told my wife I blew a grand on an xo1 she didn't seem to impressed. I just reminded her who pay the mortgage, property taxes, house insurance, electricity, natural gas, water, groceries, car payments and insurance. She couldn't say much after that .

...I had a guy respond to one of my Craigslist ads, and we started talking over the phone...he had mentioned the HPI Savage to his wife, and she wasn't too impressed...it seems that he has to get his wife's approval for buying RCs...long story short, the potential buyer said he will call this Thursday and maybe we can do business...

Lets start that I bought my son a 1/10 scale Traxxas Slash 4x4 and I got the MegaRig PC Last year for tax season.

He's had so much fun with it all this last year that I had to buy myself one this year for tax season, my wife has been OK with them so far, She was a lil upset bout me breaking my 2 lower A arms thinking it was gonna cost us (her money in her mind) some money to replace.. but she calmed down after I showed her that both the breaks were in the exact same location, both broke the exact same way and I told her that i was mailing them to traxxas since mine was only 1 month old and my sons never broke all year. ( which i also explained to traxxas, they sent me an RMA email and dropped them in the mail 2day for replacement). Only thing she's kinda urk'd about is that me and him both really need replace our body's already (Bashin fun.. hehe.. and the stock shells are extremely weak compared to aftermarket brands)

Other then that, she loves the fact that me and my son bond great with them all the time. I spend tons of time w/ my wife when she's not on her new mega Laptop PC I bought her this year for her all year round present. (She didn't want an RC toy.. me sad )

So from my side here is a possible idea. Since she cant stand the idea of you having one, find what she would really want and get her that to distract her from your hobby... other then all i can say is goodluck and hope she comes around..

as like a few of you, i am not married but engaged. my girl often has a problem with my r/c habits with my slash 4x4 (the only r/c i have btw) and i have tried to tell her about all of her hobbies and collections like for example, furbies. if i go somewhere that MIGHT have one and dont look, she gets very irritated. she loves photography so i have told her, "hey babe, why dont you come get some picture or video of me and my slash?" the only response i have gotten out of her after one outing with me is "i have no interest in watching your toy car drive in circles and stuff." that made me laugh but not out loud. the best thing i have done to get her off my back is show her one of my facebook friends' photos of his 50 or so r/c vehicles and she calmed down alot. hope this has helped,

    Andrew.

My wife constantly complains about the hobby, the dirt and mess I create ( also clean ) and taking time away from her. I spend time in the back yard or local park with my son and bash. Spend my own money on parts and all bills are paid so I simply say ... Deal with it !!! It could be a lot worse. At least I am in my own yard, with my son and you know exactly where I am and what I'm doing

Well a little update on my end... Wife has actually been pretty cool lately... I took some advice, started making sure to help out around the house a little more, like doing some stuff without any reason to like doing the dishes once in a while, helpin her out, etc... I own two businesses so I work 6 - 7 days a week so finding time to do things around the house is tough, but it makes a difference I guess... Oh wait, it could also be the new Audi I just bought her. haha... That was one expensive fix for me to get to enjoy my hobby without hearing her complaints. lol. I think she's having a hard time justifying any complaints after that little purchase she's been wanting for a while. All's well that ends well though, I got what I wanted, and so did the wife. =) All Smiles now! lol Love reading the posts on this thread... some great advice... Some of the posts on here I've been reading about you engaged guys that aren't married yet, don't you worry, when you say I Do, it all changes.. Some good, some bad, but it will all change.. ahhaha... =)

Oh that's scary, getting married in a few months. I hope that some of the changes have run their course considering we bought a house 2 years ago and have been living with each other for 1 1/2 years but only time will tell. I'll keep you guys updated

Jersey It will change...especially when you have kids. Not all for the bad, but there are days when I asked myself, " is this really the woman that I married?" Seems like a totally different person some times. I do have 3 young kids and she is a stay at home mom....so the stress must get to her!

Man this sounds familiar. I work twice the hours of my wife. Do more with the 4 kids. Do just as much house work if not more. And if I want to have just some me time, its like I asked to sleep with her sister. My wife doesn't seem to mind that I have stuff, but to use it... that's a problem.
