You should just buy two and install both at the same time. I did that with my last MERV and I get ridiculous torque, and its a completely waterproof build. IF you opt for that, make sure you align them so they don't burn out from misalignment.

Yours could be burning out because of heavy tires and turning at high speeds. Is your MERV stock?

just buy a aftermarket servo with metal gears. i got the hitec hs85mg with metal gears. its a little slower than the stock and its not waterproof but it is more durable than the 2080 with plastic gears. if u need waterproof ive heard of guys getting spray-on sealant and just using that. the only thing i dont like is its slightly slower(i dont really care that much) and it makes way more noise than the stock one.

yeah the hitec does. all u have to do is plug it in and reverse the direction. u do have 2 loosen the screws to install it because the wire comes out of the side not the top. u also have 2 make a servo horn because the stock horn is too big but u can use one of the ones that comes with the servo. its pretty easy to do and doesnt take much time

there are some servo horns that come with the servo. theres 1 that has 2 ends. u can cut the one end off and then make the screw fit in the remaining end. heres a pic before i got it all fiting http://i.imgur.com/6py8Z.jpg

I bought a Losi horn. Great upgrade, you will need a little modding to get that in.

I snapped my hitec horn lol, hit a curb the wrong way really freezing cold out though.. good thing it comes with extras too

I bought a hitec aluminum horn but the screw holes aren't big enough to connect to the steering mechanism (sorry don't know what to call it)

what can I do? I don't own any power tools

so i called traxxas and they said once i get my new one in the mail to call them and they will help me set it up. he said the servo end points may be off and need to be reprogramed. if it works great if not i will get a hitec mg82 or mg85 as no one around me sells ******* stuff. anybody else deal with traxxas in the same way

It probably has a plastic gear so if it get over stressed itll strip the gear instead of burn out the motor. Then you can replace that gear instead of the whole servo.

so that fits without any mods? I don't really want to return this but if that works without any drilling then I will

It looks like a little plastic inside one of those gears, can't really tell.. but the plastic gear on te hitec is covered by a metal gear..

alright I think Ill get that losi horn, I've already cut the servo cover for the hitec itself, kinda sticks out

All the gears that transfer the power from the motor to the output gear are metal.
