Making LED kit

I mostly drive my car at night, so I'd like to make my own LED setup. I just saw on TheToyz that Driven Productions now makes a bumper (front and rear are same) out of delrin for $11 each that comes with 4 LED housings per bumper. I'd like to have 4 bright white lights up front and 2 reds out back, as well as an on/off switch in line because I want to get power through the receiver. I'm not sure what to do as far as transistors, hooking the setup up to the receiver, as well as a switch. Does anyone have any input?

It's too bad the DP bumpers aren't as pretty as the RPM bumpers...

Im gunna keep it simple and go with some leds that take aaa batts

just have to figure out which style would be easiest to install in the truck

Different LED's take different power. There aren't any real standards... you can get super bright led's that take less power than dim red leds. It's best to buy an LED kit if you don't know what you're doing.

jsut get the summit kit..... and you can use anything you want to mount them, i have 5mm white leds installed into a mini summit front bumper

i was also wondering about putting lights in my Merv. if u get anything figured out u should post some pics or a video cuz im interested in doing the same thing so i can drive at night and know where my car is.

is it possible to do that but put the lights in the bumper instead of the body?

it could be done, but i wouldnt use the metal led holders that i have in my raptor body. there kind of big. there are kits with smaller plastic holders. or just drill a hole big enough to set led. i may go with leds on the chassy later.

a bigger bumper would help.

what if u mounted them down below the bumper alongside the front skidplate and also have lights on the body. i think that would look cool because it would be like foglights

with a little work leds could probly be mounted any were.

I could go into detail that you wouldnt understand, nor care about for that matter but,

If you tap into the receiver(channel 3,4,5) you're going to be using 5.3-6volts. just wire the LEDs straight into a harness and into the receiver. If you start blowing LEDs, add a 100ohm resistor in the wiring loop after every 2 LEDs and before you get back to your power source. The LEDs (if you are wiring 2 per strand, need to wire + to - . you will know if you get it wrong, one will not work.

There isnt enough voltage to make a huge difference whether you add a resistor or not to white, or red for that matter, LEDs

rclighthouse.com. pretty reasonable and good led's that hook up to 9v OR optional rx so when you turn the car on the lights are toggled on and off by a toggle switch. will post pics in a bit to help all understand.

well heres my lights from rclighthouse. They sent me 2 more white than i wanted, I wanted 6 white, 4 red, got 8 white 2 red. they are confused how it happened because they always make sure the leds are right but ig it happened. I will probably send them back. Yes, there are too many wires lol. I probably only need 4 and 4 but o well. It looks sweet.









enjoy, I still have some securing of the wires to do. so far it fits on my merv fine and drives good. a few too many wires yes but its sweet to me and does good work.
