Traxxas 17mm hex slop.......:(

Wheel wobble is more about reducing the shake in the wheels and how it transfers those shakes inwards and breaks down the bearings, axles. Shafts etc

My wheels are pretty balanced

I just realized how much the hex slop can wear away the bearings. All 4 of my bearings wiggle a little now and they are fairly new. I know its cause the hex slop. Awaiting washers...

@ross93 the comma means the same thing as a period in this case so its 44.95 EUR.

if only they made the motor mount to fit the 1717, i was looking all over for this actually before i got my 1717.

Pretty sure the 1717 can fit the stock mount....

i mean that thing to go on the back of the motor to keep it more supported because its a big heavy motor. and since it is a higher diameter i dont think it will fit. but i need to get that 17mm adapter. looks pretty legit.

my bad. Yep I know that motor brace you're talking about, and the ones I've seen are for the stock sized motor.

theres lots for the stock sized motor, but when you carve the rear shock mount out to fit the bigger motor i think that would support the motor on a decent landing. on a bad one though?? well, lets roll some dice!

i just got the hpi 17mm hexes and they really do reduce alot of the wobble. not 100% of it, but really close. i have a tiny bit of wobble now, but i have a feeling that could be caused by the bearings and/or rod ends. but wayyyyyyyyyy better than the traxxas adapters.

incorrect. i tightened em with the bigger end of the glow plug wrench, which i believe is 8mm. Can anyone else confirm?

yup, the HPI hex that you tighten is 8mm, but the hex for the wheel is 17....

I think he was saying that you can get a HPI setup for 14mm hexes, which used to be the standard.

I have some 23mm hexes but they didnt seem to reduce wobble that much. I belive there integy.

Crud, I just stripped the 2 plastic 8mm tools that come with the car trying to remove a nut. Its on there tight!

Make sure you use a metal driver when screwing the hpi nuts

Always use a socket & driver when tighting wheel nuts. If they are Traxxas or HPI & get them tight. I have yet to read somebody stripping the threads......

i run losi axles and losi hexes and i still have very slight slop between the hex and the axle,
since the hex has to slide over the axle easily u will get slop most of the time
as its not an interferance fit or u would have a hard time getting the hexes on if it was.
i can possibly use loctite bearing lock between the inside of the hex and the axle but then i might not
be able to get the hex off next time i need to strip the car down

Just make sure you have no space between the bearing and the pin. That's what I find causes the wobble.

Even with the hpi hexs, I put 4 teflon washers behind the pin so that it takes up all the space. This eliminates all the wheel wobble without major binding.

If it still wobbles then you need to replace your bearings or rod ends.
