    Bent chassis or engine mount?

    Hey all,

just got a new revo last christmas, and so far have been loving every bit of it.

Today i went out for a big bash and misjudged a jump which resulted the truck landing on its cooling head on some hard concrete. In the end I have either bent the chassis or engine mount. this is clearly due to that the black silicone air filter tubing is all shredded from the spur gear and am unable to put back on as the the carburetor is pretty much within touching distance to the spur gear. The clutch bell also isn't aligned with the spur gear. I can spin the clutch bell at free will.

Im probably going to end up buying a new chassis and engine mount, will have to take the whole block off and inspect it properly. can any1 suggest what other parts i should buy. im thinking steel spur gear and clutch bell. im new to the RC world.

any help would be great. thanks

I would not recommend steel spur gear, as it is quite cheap part when it is the stock plastic one, when you get more expensive steel spur, it might not break, but it will start breaking other parts which are more expensive than stock spur gear.

I've had a very similar problem and posted a thread about it with photo's, see thread below because it may help you: you made a good point that i didn't consider about maybe needing a new engine mount as well...

Bro, I run steel everything, trans, spru, gen 3 slipper, non of that will matter when the head takes a hit, you can straighten out the chassis, and add some bracing, there are may ways to to that but the NE roll hoop ties everything together really nice and really protects the head. About the best brace you can use for the rear is an alloy rear bulk, those arms on the bulk really stiffen up the chassis in that location, M2c makes a great motor brace too but I think you can fab your own. Good luck man, there are a ton of ways to skin a cat in this sport. I'm running BB's in my Revos and I'v,e had to come up with a bunch of home made mods to bullet proof them, but I beat my stuff like a bad dog too. Good luck. If you want to try out a Vantage Racing CF chassis let me know I got one for sale.

Is it possible that the engine mount just came loose. I have hit trees and landed flips wrong. I beat my revo hard. If you was to damage the engine it would break. Not bend. Chassis is highly unlikely. Check the adjustment on the mount.
I run steel everything as well. Its the only way to get the most out of the truck. But its true that other stuff will break. I am twisting the pins out of the driveshafts now.

PM are you talking the center shafts? Or the wheel shafts? Just wondering, my stock centers have taken a beating and I'm quite frankly shocked they have held up this long. They are tough mothers. But stuff does wear out too. I've got Vantage and MIP steel centers in my tool boxes collecting dust. If I were to upgrade the center from stock there is a steel version out there that looks like the stock centers, it's a splined slip on just like the stocker. If I started having issues that's the one I would use. But a new set of stockers is way cheaper and I love them.

I've got a nice New Era Cage, the problem is that it makes working on the truck a PITA, only mounting to the front and rear offers very little strength, that why the steel roll hoop actually does something and lets you have easy access, no doubt the cage offers protection, just make wrenching tougher unless you just take it off.

I have twisted off one of the centers. And 2 of the axle shafts. I am one of those guys that keeps the slipper tight. The tranny is all steel so somethings gotta give. I would rather replace a shaft than a tranny part. I would like to find a nice set of beefy CVD,s or Universals with slip shafts. I am actually thinking of selling the revo. So it may not be my problem much longer.

Hey guys finally found some time to rebuild the car from the groud up with a new chassis, and engine mount. Only to find that I still can't put the airfilter back on as the tubing is basically touching the spur gear. Any suggestions? What would cause the throtle body to be so close to the spur gear? Could I have broken something else?
