    Gearing and Shocks

I'm converting my nitro to an e-revo BL, chassis swap and all.

    What spur/pinion is suggested for a 2200KV motor with a 4s lipo.

also, I'm going to rebuild the shocks and i will be jumping it, what color/weight shocks are recommended?

    Thanks

    -Tanner

18/54 is recomended 4s gearing from traxxas. Personally i havent run anything below ~21 tooth pinion. Slower than 40mph top speed has me over reving too much. 18/54 will get you a little over 35mph.

This should help u figure out exactly how fast u gear. http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html

K so 54T spur is what is the usual? Just curious :P Ik the ratios and such... so 20 sounds good, i don't want to destroy my diffs and gears as you with with people running the 1717 and low gearing

Well... If u want u can save some money easily by running ur nitro spurs instead of buying the erevo spurs. Nitro gearing is mod 1 and erevo are mod 0.8. Mod 1 vs mod 0.8 is just purely cometic preference. i wouldnt even say personal preference bc they be the same.

An 18/54 mod 0.8 is exactly equal to a 13/40 mod 1. Both give 35mph. If u want 40mph then 20/54 mod 0.8 equals 15/40 mod 1. Figured all of that out using that link.

All of the mod 0.8 spurs are 50-68. Pinions are 10-28.
All of the mod 1 spurs are 34-40. Pinions are 10-31.

e-revo and revo 3.3 spurrs are different pitch, as you mentioned I believe. How would the pinion work?

U Gotta pick either mod 1 or mod 0.8 gearing. Theres no interchanging pitches.

Do u have mod 1 spurs already? How many?

Spurs are relatively cheap. $4 spur vs a $12 pinion.

wait what is the difference between mod 1 and mod .8? is it the " Pitch " of a pinion gear or something?

68T spurr and i want the same thing as the 54/18 ratio, what size pinion would that be? do i just do simple math to find it?

    (x/68) = (18/54) = 22 or 23T spurr?

I dont think you'll find spur that small (22t or 23t) but, a pinion there is, mod 1 or mod 0.8. mod 1 have bigger tooth than mod 0.8 and thats there pitch.

k my spurr has 68T and a " 1 " on it so i'm guessing thats the pitch... so a 22T pinion will be good? ( sorry i ment to say pinion in oher post )

You are correct with the algebraic equation. 22 will give you stock speed with that 68 spur. (35mph)

Keep in mind some of the traxxas spurs are stocked at a local hobby store. So if the 23/68 ever gets slow... Jump to a smaller spur (50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 65).

For the record 22/50 will get you 48 mph on 4s lipo and it is very fast for 4s bashing.... But fun

More speed = smaller spur or bigger pinion.
